I tried with some old projects and a few new ones I created and when opened in X3 they play fine but if I open them in Platinum the latest download the follow occurs

1 longer load time
2 jerky time display not a smooth display
3 jerky now time line
4 numerous white screens when clicking on a soft synth or fx to open them for adjustments
5 numerous "not responding" error messages

My specs
Dell XPS 420
Intel Core 2 Extreme x6800 2.93 ghz
8 gig RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT 740
Focusrite Pro24 DSP
SSD Drive for OS

I looked up the minimum specs for Platinum and they hint at an I5, which of course my processor is not but the clock speed is over their spec.

So I can only assume my DAW is not powerful enough to run Platinum, in which case I will run the terms of my subscription out  since I am not in a position to upgrade hardware now.

I've got a slower processor (quad core Q6600) and less memory (4GB) than you and don't have those problems, so it's not a processor power issue per se.

Do you get this with just a very simple project (say one track, one soft synth, one plug-in)?

Hi. Do you have scan on startup, and scan existing plugins and failed plugins checked?
That could cause SONAR to have slower startup time.
Do you use ASIO drivers for your AI? Are they up to date? Is Windows up to date? Is your Gpu drivers up to date?
What buffer settings do you use?
Best of luck.

Did you do a vST plug-in reset and re-scan when upgrading from X3 to Platinum? The reset part is essential, re-scanning alone isn't enough. You can do this in Preferences.

thanks to all for the suggestions
however,
latest win 7 updates
latest graphics driver updates
latest focusrite driver update
@Craig I did not do a reset, I will try that .
But I get a white screen and a freeze on graphics while trying to say adjust a slider on the console, BUT the audio keeps on playing which makes me think a graphics issue..

The freeze thing might be display driver. No harm in updating it.
I think though it's more likely a dodgy plug (do the vst reset thing) or audio interface. With mix control often best to do full uninstall, reboot, full install (latest) then reset the entire interface.

If that's not happening try and rule out a particular plugin by removing them one by one.
Running windows update is a good idea as well..

Craig , That seems to be the answer. Now, I don't understand all that was involved in the update, I thought the settings would be passed on from X3 to Platinum, and if I missed that simple step of resetting then , yes , I am at fault for assuming.

Now the reset IS a PITA, since some of my VSTs are balking at authorization, and are freezing the scan, but MAYBE that's why Platinum was buggy? My beloved NI B4II wont authorize, and I have to dig through my notes to see whatt he magic trick is. Also my Liquid Mix had previously worked with some reg edits and bit bridge tricks, but alas, no go with SPLAT
Now the good news ,albeit some plugs that aren't showing up in previous projects, and I will tackle them one at a time, my projects now playing fine in Platinum.

You certainly are the CHIEF MAGICAL OPERATOR,
thank you for taking the time to help me
