Thank God for technology and mobile phones while waiting for kids...
No new plug-ins since I reinstalled EZ Drummer. I will look at the Toast VST thing you mentioned. I save all my projects as bundles and plug-ins and passwords aside in case a full reinstall is necessary. When I tried to uninstall Sonar and Reinstall Sonar.....same error though the whole process took less than 10 minutes so I'm not convinced it was a complete u install by Cakewalk

Do you have system restore enabled? Doing a restore to a point when you knew the system was running should work and will not affect data files.

Did you get notification of a crash dmp file being created?

I don't mean Sonar I mean the VST that hangs the VST scanner. (Sorry if I wasn't clear.) I doubt Sonar is at fault. None the less, I'm glad you did try that.

HhHmmm....system restore......damn I hate to go with that. Would I lose files from other programs I've created like edited pictures and videos in Sony Vegas and Adobe?

Restore only modifies changed programs/registry entries. There is an info button when you select a restore point that will tell you what will be undone. No data files are touched by that process.

That info list can also provide insight into what was done to your machine since the last time you knew it worked.

I noticed you said you back up all your projects as Cakewalk bundles. These days we recommend you don't do that as once any element is corrupt the whole thing is done.
Better to save as Per Project Audio and just backup the whole folder somewhere if required.. Bundles don't really save much space.
