I'm recording a trio right now and the guitar player has sonar 6. Can I send him a producer project that he can open?

I know effects won't translate well, but automation? Clips?

I have not gone as far back as 6, but I have opened X3 projects in 8.5 with only the expected effects being missing.
I would say jus do it and see what happens.
If it's important the obvious solution is they should upgrade to at least Artist which is very resonable as an upgrade.

Yep. I'm home. It went well. Stuff is all back in place. Thanks for the advice.

This is the first tune I bounced from last night.

Can you tell I've been watching the Modern Drum Vid?

I didn't use drum replacer on this one. I just played with EQ etc.

There have been a lot of occasions where I've opened projects in Sonar 7 that have been created in X2 or X3 and I never had any real issues. I can't remember whether automation was in any way affected though.

The project should open for the most part in SONAR 6. Track and bus automation should work fine. You may have issues with FX automation since a lot has changed since then.

You can always export the tracks as WAVs with any automation, processing, etc. That way it can be opened in anything.

Awesome! I've mailed the guitarist the first few I've done using gobbler. I really love gobbler.

Craig, I did start by mailing all the raw tracks to the band, but it is nice if they can also benefit from the copying of songs into projects and track alignment, clip cutting ala the modern drum video etc.

It was sixteen tracks recorded for for hours.
