The plot thickens.
I left the computer on overnight and this morning the download folder still shows the file sizes as shown in my last screenshot.. the files are only half the size they should be according to Noel. So they stall and that's the end of the story.
I am now convinced that because the Assistant has a very basic download system ( crude) that if the download is interrupted it stalls and is hung up. Read how many people had to try a few times to get it to work.
In my case you are almost assured to have a large file be interrupted because I'm using a Satellite system.
Example the XLN installer will show progress and tell me it was interrupted and restarted 2 or 3 times. But it always results in a complete download and updated files.
Chromes downloader will manage this as well and you are given the option to re start a download if it times out.
The first version of CbB used Chromes download because the cakewalk.exe showed in the Global Download folder.
Anyhow I had already downloaded and installed to my old beater laptop I have at work the day it was announced.
This laptop did not have the early release installed, Just Home Studio and Splat.
It had no problems and shows as 24-04-1.
I brought my portable drive with me to work with plans to copy the cakewalk.exe and take it home.
There is nothing in the Assistants download folder? Why would that be? does the assistant delete the installation files when complete?? This is nuts! I didn't even know that folder existed until someone pointed it out on Saturday.
