  • Full Version products vs. Trial version products?

Can someone provide a "definitive" guide as to what products in the Command Center are "Trial" versions or "reduced functionality" versions vs. the "full" version.  The comparison charts  doesn't seem to really say what a "Full" version is.

For example Dimension LE ... says "Pro" ... but "LE" indicates Limited Edition?  Also Rapture LE says "Full" but again "LE" is Limited Edition?

I'm basically trying to avoid installing "Trial" versions and repeating the disaster that was XLN Audio.  So I'd love to know what is listed in my Command center is "Trial" (limited version) vs. a true "Full" product.

Thanks, Rob.

From my experience, LE isn't necessarily a trial, its usually just a downgraded version of the full thing. A trial is usually timed for a certain number of days where as most LEs are good forever they just dont have the full capability of non-LE hence why its LIMITED  - edition.

What your seeing most likely means its the Full install of the LE version. Thats all i can really think of, sorry if not very helpful thats all i can really come up with.

If you dont mind me asking, what version of Sonar did you buy? or are you doing a trial of sonar? I run platinum and in the command center i see no LEs.

I have Platinum version ... I was going to provide the product comparisons (tried to include the page link but it appears links are disabled for my forum account) which lists out what's included in Platinum.

It's the "full of a limited product" that is my issue - sorta like saying Yes and No ... I don't like "limited" anything when it comes to audio production ... nothing more frustrating when in the middle of producing music to be hit up against a feature that's only available in the "Full un-limited" version, even more so if one has planned on that feature being available.

After some search on Cakewalks site I was able to find Rapture Pro upgrade for $79.

I was able to find Dimension Pro via Sweetwater for $99 (no upgrade pricing).

But it sure would be nice if there was some easy indicator of what is missing in LE vs. Pro/Full vs. Trial etc. etc.

As far as purchasing additional sounds I can really find any complete volume of sounds from DSF Z3TA bundles, not really sure at all what if anything I want there ... I need to listen before I buy.  I guess I was hoping for a more "integrated" cloud solution where I can browse the cloud, listen to samples and buy what I need/want.  Right now it seems more like rolling the dice and see what comes up.

Cheers, Rob.

Dim Pro comes with Platinum. So does Rapture. Sound Center is a waste of disk space. Its there to get users of lesser versions to upgrade.  CW included it with platinum probably because it was easier to do so then not to do so.

The full versions of DPro and Rapture are bundled with Platinum only. Professional includes LE versions of those synths.

Rapture Pro is a new product. It is an upgrade from both DPro and Rapture. In addition to new programs and content, it includes the factory content and plays all the programs from both synths. The Cakewalk store no longer sells the older synths separately.

Ok, just to make sure I understand:

Platinum includes Dimension Pro, but NOT Rapture Pro ... which is a $79 upgrade.

Thanks Rob.

Yes. Rapture Pro is a new product.

The original Dimension was released with Project 5. Subsequently an upgrade to Dimension was released called Dimension Pro. Another product called Rapture was released around the same time. Years later DPro and Rapture were added to SONAR Producer and are still part of the current version of SONAR Platinum.

This year a new product, Rapture Pro was introduced. It is a new sfz engine synth capable of playing both DPro and Rapture programs adding new features, programs and content.

Thank you, purchased Rapture Pro.

In search of some sound libraries where I can sample the sounds before purchase ... any hints?

Cheers, Rob.
