They seem to build some touch stuff in as they develop. They aren't taking a hurried approach to touch. The app is touch enabled and they add more touch stuff wherever it seems to fit.
For example, when they added the flyout eq they added some nice touch sensibility to it.
They have not taken a lot of time to make touch work well for drawing in envelope automation or slip editting clips. That sort of thing seems low on their list. Making a touch toolbar so you could indicate your intention and then muck around: nope. I'm guessing they have tried something like it in development but decided it wasn't ready for prime time. The current Control Bar is nicely touch sensitive and intuitive. It just doesn't enable the setting of touch context (indicating what you want touch to control currently - for example - now I want to work with envelopes only... let touch gestures only effect that.
Basically, for me, touch is really cool for quick stuff and silent stuff. I can touch the screen while making a recording and the mics will never pick that up. :-)
I can use it to move around in the timeline. Zoom. I do use it a lot for synths and it works fairly well with Sonar synths like Rapture. I use it with Amp Sims. When walking around the room setting up mics I'm likely to use touch to make sure they are on and working properly.
I'm most likely to use it with a guitar in my hands. With my hands on keyboard and mouse, it's uncommon for me to be like, 'oh I need to zoom, let me reach out and touch the screen!' On the other hand, with my hands on the guitar, to arm all tracks rewind and start recording, I definitely reach over my alpha track and touch the screen (mouse and keyboard would be the slowest way).
New development is welcomed, but I don't want them rushing anything. Little by little. That's as fast as I can learn to use it anyway.
