Hi Everyone ,
 
thought i may share a problem , if i accidently leave plug-in manager window open when i close sonar platinum , then the next time i open a project , when i go to insert a synth under Browser>Synth >insert Synth is greyed out - Cannot use it anymore until you uninstall and delete all sys folders then re install ,
 
checked this problem twice and its definatley a bug because this never used to happen , maybee the plug-in manager window should automatically close with the program ?
 
Anyone else encounter this ?
 
Anyways check that you plugin manager window is closed .

is it really that severe? i would have thought a simple VST scan (probably with a VST reset right before) should have fixed that ...

VST scan does not fix it and VST reset either ,
 
 When you close sonar > leave vst manager window open > press scan . I also did a bit of sorting and saving in the manager , then closed it . (Twice)
 
When i opened sonar up again BANG insert synth gone (Greyed out )
 
Anyways the solution here is sort out all your vsts while sonar is open .

My "Insert synth" menu item is greyed out also but I can still use the plugins tab and its instrument list to add synths.  In fact I'm not really sure when that "Insert Synth" menu item on the Synth tab's + went bad.  I have (at various times) ran the Plugin Manager outside Sonar.
 
Seems like a bug, but I'm not sure it's really bothering me.  That pull out menu is pretty close to unusable.  The Plugins panel with the search option is all I use these days.
 

You should just save your plug-in layout/s . pgl in appdata>roaming>cakewalk>sonar platinum>plug-in layouts .
then uninstall latest update , then delete sys folder > sonar platinum in program data and roaming , and do a reinstall -add you plugin layouts and your back with the insert synth ,ALIVE again ,
 
just remember no scanning if you leave the plug in manager widow open Or goodby inseret synth

this morning i loaded a new cakewalk platinum project >opened the plugin manager > DID not scan >just select vst >then opened my plug in layout-instrument > then i saved  a new vst and closed plug in manager > and instantly insert SYNTH GREYED OUT , so i then opened c>users>?>app data>roaming >cakewalk>sonar platinum >plug in layouts --- and there i have 4 files >
default.pgl.tmp
EFFECTS.pgl (my fxs)
INSTRUMENTS.pgl ( mine again )
platinum effects.pgl ,
HOWEVER THERE WAS LITERALLY a NEW FOLDER which should not be there so i clicked it inside was a copy of INSTRUMENTS.pgl, and another new folder , so i clicked that NEW FOLDER and inside was another copy of INSTRUMENTS.pgl ???
 
so i went back a few steps  into plug in layout page again and cut out the new folder and pasted it to my desktop the with sonar opened this whole time by the way i clicked insert synth and it is back again >NOT GREYED OUT NOW , all of the above within 10 miniutes ,
 
so i dont know what the exact thing that is happening here is but i thought i will share exactly what has happened this morning .

so it did it again today .
 
however there was no extra (new folder ) this time .
 
so i found a fix finally without even having to close sonar .
 
this is my fix .
 
1)As soon as insert synth is greyed out
 
2)go to plug-in layouts>C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum\Plug-in Menu Layouts
 
so in there i have the following files :
default.pgl.tmp
EFFECTS.pgl (my custom effects all organised)
INSTRUMENTS.pgl (my custom instruments all organised)
Platinum Effects.pgl
 
3) drag out INSTRUMENTS.pgl file and put it on desktop.( you will now see insert synth is no longer greyed out )
 
4 ) get a saved copy my INSTRUMENTS.pgl , and copy it into plug-in layouts (((not the one you draged on to the desktop ))( which i keep on a separate hdd, every time i add new effects or instruments and save , i go into plug-in layouts and copy both files and keep a duplicate for many reasons ,this being one as it seems .
5)insert synth no longer greyed out and all of my organised instruments are back organised .

p.s this has never happened to my effects file yet so im wondering if bad vst or something .

Ok another update it seems to be that whenever i save my instruments .pgl , sonar hates it .
 
if i drag out the instruments.pgl file then insert synth appears, but if i save a new instrument then insert synth is a gonna .
 
which means i cant save new instuments . FULL STOP ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

WELL NOW INSERT SYTNTH IS PERMANANTLY GREYED OUT AND HERE TO STAY CANNOT REINSTALL STIIL THERE

DELETE ALLL FILES STIILL THERE

GO TO BED GET UP STILL THERE

GOING CRAZY AHHH STILL THERE
 
Please if anyone has a solution or a work around so i can still use my own instrument and effects templatets PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
