Seems like Foxboro 64 bit launch here is now much more reasonable.
My post was based on 64 bit older versions.

Just mute me. ;-)

I agree Platinum is quite glitchy and opens slowly feels really fragile on my system. First time this has happened infact i just opened a project and pressed play took five seconds to start to play then midway to starting to play sonar exe appeared and closed Sonar Platinum. Not to mention the other glitches in audio how ever support though really good have not helped to resolve the issues that are there in Platinum hopefully the bakers will bake an update that fixes all these issues so that it can be as stable as it can be.

Here's to hoping!!!

What is your audio interface?

Try uninstalling your audio interface software/drivers. Reboot... Reinstalling the latest (whether you had the latest previously or not). Also update to the latest firmware. Then reset your audio interface.

Before somebody says it ... just because it's working well in a previous version of Sonar... it does not rule this out...

I have 3 of the MOTU 2408 mk3 interfaces.

Re: Sound card driver re-install, I'll give that a shot, thanks!

I reinstalled the motu drivers, no change in Platinum's load time... it might even take an extra couple of seconds.. at least I have the new drivers!

Does anyone know if Platinum's install can be customized? I'd like to be able to deselect the products I don't use. (synths and plugs, demos etc.)

Anyone able to do this? The demo doesn't allow any change except install directory.
?
Thanks...

Plugin manager. What will slow down the startup is plugins inside your project. Otherwise just leave them there.
Did you update the firmware of the audio interface?

At this stage you really should be looking at latencymon, process monitor and process explorer.

In task manager's performance window, the cpu spikes up from 0% to 15% during the launch of Platinum.
It spikes from 0% to 3% when launching X1d.

I notice in process explorer that cakewalk command center gets opened during the launch of Platinum which likely slows it down a little.

Process monitor shows what files are being accessed and probably most useful in this instance.
I assume you updated the firmware then.

They don't have any FW updates for the 2408 mk3 on the site, just for the other products. I've asked tech support if there's an updated one out there somewhere. i could disable the card and enable the audio on my video card for a test to see if there's a difference.
Cheers
