Sounds interesting, but I don't buy anything without hearing it first. As there are no demos from CW, I'm hoping somebody else has posted something somewhere.

Ditto. Where are the sound demos for this thing? The description makes it sound like I could probably use it (great job copy writers!) but I'm most definitely NOT going to buy a sound library unless I can hear the sounds first.

I am sure the expansion pack would be excellent. Anyone doing music that involves these types of instruments would not be disappointed. The Moog expansion sounds incredible.

The demo at the DSF site is not good and does not demonstrate the many sounds available at all. It is just a series of not so interesting electronic sounds riffs etc. I would buy it without hearing it.

Thanks, Willy, but I agree with Jeff - that demo's not going to be very effective for selling the product. It sounds like it was slapped together in a hurry just so they could put something up. Still, I do hear a few neat things going on in there. Not enough to make me want to buy it, though.

Yep I bought it last night.

It's relatively cheap, and it's one of those purchases that I'm saying "Glad it wasn't any more expensive".

I'll possibly find a use for a couple of sounds in there, but it wouldn't be a go to for me.
But that's just my opinion after a quick listen through all the patches.

Just another addition to the big wad of sounds which are time consuming to search through / find something like you're after.

I find the worst thing about Rapture and Dimension Pro is the lack of search facility and other patch management goodies.

They are great synths, the harder part is often finding the sound you're looking for, and then finding it again later.
I've kinda got a system worked out out that I use for these synths, but I really wish that Cakewalk would
improve the patch browser by adding search / tagging facilities.

The "Film Score" Rapture pack has a couple of missing multisample soundfonts, so I'll be logging a support ticket
for that.

On the whole, cheap enaough and potentially has a few useful sounds.
But time consuming to search through when you're really looking for something - not a problem if you've got tons
of spare time.  Oh, if only :-)

I am actually doing a new demo for this expansion pack right now as we speak. It will up there soon I hope. I keep getting sidetracked with other things. I am doing a short piece of music for each of the seven sections and will blend them all together at the end.

There are some very nice patches in there but as cliffr says it is still quite specialised though. There are no real percussion (or bass) sounds as such only a few. Its emphasis is on other things. Actually as I am doing the demo I am getting quite familiar with the patches and there are some very nice ones in there for sure. There are some cool ambient soundscapes.

cliffr what I have done is to add numbers before all the patches eg 01, 02, 03 etc before the names in each section. I have also gone through each patch and put them into a type of sound heading eg tuned percussion, pads etc..That helps too. When I am done I will send you that.

It is easy to add the numbers before the names. Just locate where the programs are and do it there. You will need to press F5 when the browser is open next time before the numbers show up. I find it has helped a lot.  Also when the browser is open extend it fully downward and you will see all the patches (in each section at a time) in one view which also helps.

It is worth the money. (As long as you have got a need for those type of sounds)

You're right, I think much of this set is quite specialised, and it does definitely have some sounds I can see as being
useful and different.

There are a few cool mod wheel crossfade/effect and soundscape type patches in there for sure.

It's that 'getting familiar with the patches' part that's quite time consuming, and I've already noted a few patches that
I'll likely be using for some things I have coming up.


I reckon cake could possibly sell more sound/expansion packs from their site if they had more good quality sound demos.
They wouldn't need a lot, just some short, good quality demos.  I've pondered over some of the titles there before
and bailed out simply because there's not been a decent demo to listen to - where if there had been a decent sounding
clip, I would have bought on the spot.
