Well I only created the 'Desktop' folder/Link in the browser, when you select it, the 'X' becomes active, and I guess it will delete that entry. The others that are by default in the drop down list seem to be either System folders or directories created by Sonar and therefore the 'X' is not active so you can't remove them is what I am thinking. I have tried to put other test folders in the drop down list, but I can't seem to, so you may not be able to put any directory in there ?

The bottom line:

  • If you double-click on a folder and its name shows up in the drop-down header, you can click on the floppy disk icon (BTW, what's a floppy disk?) to save that folder as a custom location.
  • You can delete any custom location.
  • You can't delete the ones created by SONAR upon installation.

The Browser locations are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Platinum\ContentLocations. I would be very surprised if removing an entry from the registry did not work. I would also recommend making a copy of the registry location before performing surgery.

It would be very cool to have a doc titled "All SONAR Entries in the Registry - What They Mean, and How to Mess with Them."

I would like to see a SONAR technical reference. For post like the one above, I just search the registry. I know many do not like to directly manipulate the registry and they probably should not do it. I do not have a problem creating views into the registry like I did for the tools section of the utilities menu. They are pretty easy to knock out.
