I apologize for asking this as I'm sure it's already been covered in here somewhere. I've only found bits and pieces about how to do this.

I have 3 HD's in my machine:

C: (SSD) OS/Software
D: Samples
E: Sonar Projects

When I installed Plat back in January, it installed everything on my C: drive and that's now filling up very quickly.......(of note, on all of the previous X series of Producer, I had everything installed in the proper directories).

Could someone please give me (step by step) clear instructions on how to move as well as direct CCC to install all the sounds/samples on to my D: drive?

Thanks!!

Not what you are asking... but.... to move downloads which takes up a huge amount of space...

Go into CCC settings and observe the download file path.
Move that folder somewhere else take note of the new file path.
Enter the new file path into CCC (same place) save the settings, return to the main area.
As an extra precaution restart CCC.

Bonus points - delete the old packages in these folders you don't have any use for.

Cheers...

I'll try this tonight.

I updated to the new CCC and tried to change the destination path of my Cakewalk Content folder from my SSD drive (OS & other software drive) to my samples drive, but got this error:

---------------------------
Path Validation Error
---------------------------
Please correct the following errors:
Copying content failed, verify that you have selected a valid path and there is adequate disk space. Previous setting has been restored.
---------------------------

Of note, this is the actual location for all 3 X series of Producer and it does have 1TB free.

Not sure why it's not accepting that path as the error message above is definitely incorrect.

Just observed a new fun quirk of CCC:  after a rollback for testing, then roll-forward again, the bleeping &#&D(#&@ program is now on C drive again.   Can't believe this stuff.    All my options say D & E drives, but no, CCC knows better and follows little overloud back home to C.

other than uninstalling and reinstalling it with proper paths set, you could move everything and use symbolic links (directory junctions) to point to the new locations ...

I know this is old-fashioned but still works nicely - especially if you want to move large sample collections that are linked to program material with paths still pointing to the originally installed locations

I have moved all my CCC downloads to an external HD, and have a setup somewhat like you. No problems.
As a precaution, I always copy, confirm the copy and then delete, when I need to move large folders. Did you do as The Doktor suggested? Save, and close CCC. Re open.
Some of the setting (Cakewalk Content), is inside SONAR. Under Preferences (P), File, Folder Location.
Best of luck.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

(I'm only trying to move the cakewalk "content" to a different HD.)

Although I didn't "click & drag" the cakewalk content folder as a whole from my C: drive to my D: drive, I moved all the subfolders that were NOT in the D: drive (only about 4-5 of them that were missing) and size wise, the folders all matched up between the two drives.
Then I changed the path in the CCC to the new location (D: drive), clicked save (CCC seemed to be doing the changes), but after a minute or two, I get that error above.

As you suggested, I can try to move the whole Cakewalk Content as a whole, but this error seems to be more of a problem within the CCC not liking/wanting to change the file path. (Interestingly, it gave me a warning "Bad things can happen" if I chose to change the file path....lol)

If you already moved your folder. This you do in SONAR Preferences, under file location.
