No not in the preference page...I keep getting midi devices that are no longer available confusing, like my BCF2000 there are like 3 of them and I only have ever had 1...I want to clear out ALL previous midi devices from Sonars memory and start fresh it is giving me some "Er" messages on the device and I need it to stop...please help...and send sorts, I'm all out of them.

If Sonar is seeing a device that is not there, it is likely doing so because Windows is telling it that the device is still available.  Look in the add remove programs section of the control panel on your version of windows to see if there is an uninstall routine for the device. If there is choose to uninstall the device. Usually that will give the cleanest uninstall, unless there is a specific uninstaller on the manufacturer's website. If there is nothing in the add remove programs, open the device manager and uninstall/delete it there. If you plan to use the device in the future, disabling it in device manager may be enough to fix the problem. Windows has a habit of installing a device/port pair, so if you plug a device into another USB port, Windows will sometimes treat it as two devices. 

Before you do anything, check out this article. You probably have a bunch of entries in Windows itself that are no longer relevant.

In addition to the above mentioned strategies you could clear most of Sonars midi entries by
deleting the aud.ini file with Sonar closed. When you restart Sonar it will re-scan your devices.
(Keep in mind that this will also clear any of your customized preferences, and certain presets, etc.
so remember to back up before deleting.)

Thanks to all...ok will try this last suggestion, did try the bat file thingy Craig, unfortunatly Win7/64 bit only see's one BCF2000...
 
And just to demonstrate how stubborn I am I actually took it apart, resoldered a new USB out port, flashed it with the latest firmware and sysex....it shows up in Sonar, enumerates then sorta locks up with an 'Er" on the lcd...when I hit the play/stop button nothing happens (yes it is in Sonar mode)...moving faders, all move back so the problem is between Sonar and the midi the BCF is seeing...with the 2 extra BCF's I am assuming (trying) to eliminate all possible conflicts, you are all most helpful, thanks.

Hi Bob. Didn't realize you were having a control surface issue... might not be midi.
Have you checked the 'generic control surface' area of preferences for more than
one instance of your controller, or the ACT controller area?

For the record I figured out why Sonar renames the BCF2000, it will give it a unique name to match the USB port you use...(I have tried several to get it to work)
 
Also I have gotten it to work and am using it, but I have not verified if it will continue, basically re-flashed the bcf unit to factory presets, rebooted, reloaded, etc...but I have done this before and when I shut down computer/bcf it doe snot come back...will try it later of couse, but I've got work to do,.

Did you run the bat file as administrator? That's essential.

Yes Craig I did, I think the problem might be ports and not devices...since I have like 6 various USB ports and a hub (some are USB3, others not so much) I think each device gets a unique name associated with whatever port it might be in...I also seem to be missing my midi instrument definitions now, which is completely new, but like I mentioned the BCF is currently working and I have some automation I need to finish before I chase the elusive fail down...
