Ok... this machine is old, but it's used for my mobile recording rig setup at rehearsal studio...

First tried installing and the installer hung at 100% forever. When I escaped it, i found CbB installed, but in deom mode.

Following all the threads here, i uninstalled both CbB and Assistant too...

Real time anti-virus off
Then re-installed.

Machine hung again at the same place and after waiting over an hour from this point, i again got out of assistant, but this time not even a demo mode CbB installed.

This was with assistant .06, not the new release.

Anyone believe it any more likely to be successful using assistant .08 and the latest CbB build?

I'm really camera shy with the latest lack of progress bar leaving me really blind as to what is going on?

I'll probably try anyway when I can get back to the rehearsal studio next, but I'm hoping to be armed with more knowledge/ideas by then.

Thanks...

Keni, I have read a few post where it took like three un-installs/re-installs before the hang problem went away. However, I am pretty sure they were all using the new BA .08

Thanks Grem!

I will give it a try with the new releases asap. I wonder how long to wait before deciding it's hung if that occurs again?

I'll be as patient as I can... Easy to run into issues with the band arriving and needing the machine to record rehearsal...

The only issue I've run into doing the uninstall is that even though I select not to uninstall shared files, I lose boost 11 and must manually replace it...

Please don't use the old .6 release of assistant. Its now obsolete and doesn't have any of the fixes for Win 7.
Let us know if it works with the .8 release.

Thanks Noel...

The situation I'm reporting was before the new release.

I'm going to try the new asap.

Here's hoping! They always say the 3rd time is the charm! 🎶

Keni, as an update: I updated BA with no problems on my Surface Pro & my music pc. I updated CWbBL with no problem on my SUrface, but on my music pc it acted like it hung up. So I just left it for about 15 -20 minutes. I was watching the network activity on TaskManger and saw when it stopped d/l the files. Then BA said it was installing, so I just left it alone for another 5-10 minutes. When it was telling me that it was still installing after waiting, I closed BA through TaskManager and the restarted my PC.

After the restart I checked the version of BA and it was the newest .08 and when I checked CW, it was also the newest version! And I was working in CW tonight with no problems.

Thanks Grem...

I just returned from the studio where I successfully installed this time.

It's an old win7 machine setup with a 24x4x2 Studiolive for simultaneous P.A./recording.

As my last attempt installed nothing, I only uninstalled BA 3.0.6.

Disabled realtime anti-virus

Downloaded and installed BA 3.0.8

Clicked the Cakewalk Install button (only the core) and waited the uncomfortable time until it finished.

This time it popped open a normal Cakewalk Install dialog with assorted windows. I liked that much better.

After it finished and I tested it, i returned to BA to download drum replacer as it's not on that machine.

...and all is well!

Joy, satisfaction, and relief!
