I have Sonar Platinum installed on a windows machine running Win 7 64 bit. I use a MOTU 828Mk3 audio interface and everything has been working well until yesterday. Now I am getting the following error message when I load a project in Sonar:

Error

The MOTU audio driver can not be configured wile audio is running
Close all audio apps and try again

This is after a clean reboot of the system and I find no other apps running anywhere other than the same background apps that have been running all along. I tried a repair of the MOTU drivers and this still comes up even when I try to load the Instruments Platinum project that came with Sonar.

Any ideas/ suggestions would be greaty appreciated! Production in my studio is now at a standstill!!

Thanks in advance

Sometimes your on board audio drivers can conflict and take over. I have mine disabled.
There is now a new issue for many folks with HDMI drivers that come with Video cards. Disable those too.
I also make sure my interface is turned on before I boot Sonar.

I disabled the other audio devices including the nvidia HDMI some time ago. windows and BIOS updates are current. MOTU 828Mk3 was on when booting. Ran Command Center and updated SPlat but the Problem persists.

Please make sure your MOTU is on latest firmware and driver.

I suspect it's probably something to do with the connection.
If you using firewire, please try using the Windows legacy driver...

Other standard advice follows...

Disable driver sharing in Sonar preferences.
Disable the interface in Windows control panel -> Sounds.
Try disabling your antivirus.
Run windows update everywhere.
Goto Intel driver and update latest chipset drivers.

OK, I got rid of the message by turning the MOTU audio interface off then on again while in an open SPlat project. Not sure why this got glitched but it seems that the MOTU was the culprit. Hope this is not a sign of how well this unit works! It's only a few weeks old.

Thanks for your help!

Make sure you've not set the Motu as the default windows audio device...

I do have the MOTU set as the default audio device. I disabled the other audio devices, HDMI off the nvidia card and the VIA audio on the system board. Why would that cause a problem?

Thanks!
