  • [SOLVED] Hey is Fast Bounce broken in Foxboro? (p.3)

Replying to myself on here, re: freeze possibly not working in fast bounce mode. Confirmed, that's also screwed up with tempo changes, as is bouncing to a new track.

Ouch. Dealbreaker for me, I'm afraid. Rolling back until it's sorted. :/

If we look at the last few releases it's been more about fixing issues with the new Platinum features.

Not really. True, Foxboro had bug fixes and enhancements for Drum Replacer. But it also had fixes and enhancements for ARA, Console View, Lanes, Event List, ProChannel, PRV, Staff View, and VST/3rd party compatibility. If you go back through the PDFs, you'll see this is a consistent pattern.

Craig yes I've read all the release notes otherwise I would not comment. Yes there are fixes for other stuff away from DR over the last couple of releases, but far less in numbers than releases before that. DR, upsampling and CCC clearly are taking up resources. I'm not complaining, I'm hoping for next month that we are back on track getting back to the meat and potatoes.

I have also found out that for the price of a monthly sub to SPlat, I can buy Reaper 4 which is doing exactly what I need and with a lot less fuss.

I'm pretty sure if Michael Hoover had $59 million in his personal account from selling Winamp to AOL in a $400 million dollar deal, SONAR would cost less as well.

Also, for a reason I have yet to find out, Reaper also seems to impart a lot less noise into my tracks.

If you record into SONAR with the interface input turned down, the only noise that shows up on a track is residual noise from the interface output. SONAR is not capable of adding noise into your tracks. What you do within SONAR is capable of adding noise to tracks.

Ok, I've done more tests.

I thought oversampling might be the culprit, and i still think it is at the root of this problem, but any project with tempo changes has crazy timing problems when rendering using fast bounce...

that is all...back to the coal mine

Thanks for your comments everyone - however, I posted an OPINION, and did not insult anyones intelligence or ability, nor did I take a cheap shot at anyones post history on the forums. For the record, I have been making and recording music since the early 80s on an Atari ST, up to today with Sonar Plat. I am a great user and believer in Sonar products and will continue to be so.

Granted I could've expressed myself more eloquently, and I don't have as amazing gear as you guys have, but I try to make the best of what I have.

I love the toys from ProChannel through to Drum Replacer, but despair at the little problems that each new release brings. The bakers are doing great jobs and Sonar continues to be my DAW of choice, but I do like to use another DAW occasionally.

Me too. And I'd leave if I found something I like more.

Whoopsie. That's a pretty big deal. Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.

This is why I would like to be able to download previous versions from a list in case I missed them. For example I'd like to try out Everett, neglected to download it in time so I either stay on Dorchester or dl Foxboro which, based on these reports, has a pretty nasty bug.

I'm sure Foxboro will be fixed but still would like to have all versions of the subscription period available for download perpetually. Now I can't access the Drum Replacer or other newer stuff without snagging this problem as well.
