  • [Answered]What Key Am I Hitting!?!?

Sometimes, while I'm recording live into Sonar, I get into a frenzy and keep banging into something on my keyboard that is disabling all of the effects and sends. Can someone tell me what key combo that is, because I can't figure it out. Undo doesn't undo it, either. i have to close the session and re-load it.

It's my left hand that's hitting the suspect key(s).

Been there, done that, was startled to find out how much better it sounded without FX!

I actually un-bound the E key because I can always hit the button in the control bar if I need to disable FX.

Ooh... I love key bindings. Where do I find those, so I can muck up my settings?

With a project loaded Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts, search for "do n" then bind E to the "Do Nothing" function. Keyboard Shortcuts is an advanced setting so make sure the Advanced radio button is selected at the bottom of the preferences dialog.

I got a chuckle reading this thread since last week I was messing with GR5 and typed "clean" into the search box, but the search box didn't take it (SONAR did). The funny part was I looked away when typing, so heard GR5 drop out, then looked up to see the control bar gone. At least A is no longer assigned to the AudioSnap Palette by default, but the other 4 letters are all hotkeys.

I use keybindings for most features I use in SONAR.
It is a blessing, when you get into it and the workflow.

I keep all of the default bindings and add a few of my own as well, most of which I've set up in the Custom Module in the Control Bar

Funny, but true.

There are a couple of mix tests that get talked about a lot. One, comparing to a reference track, and two, A/Bing different mix versions.

The one that rarely gets talked about, but I think incredibly useful, is to just turn everything off now and then, and see whether you're making the source audio better or worse. It can be very instructive.
