• SONAR
  • Updating New Releases (very time consuming)

I have Sonar Platinum and am wondering if there is a way to update new releases all at once or at least being able to pick and choose what gets updated from check list.

This Foxboro is a big release in that there are currently 23 items needing update. It is a major waste of my time updating everything one at a time and having wait and watch the command center reload after every item update.

I assume I can go to the web and download 23 items but what good is the command center if this is the workaround?

I am hopeful there is another way.

Thanks,
John

Simply select which parts in command centre that you want to update and leave the rest to another time.  There's no requirement to update at all.

Most of the items showing update required are due to the new Command Center. Discussion starts here http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3247552

This does seem like an unusually big update, due to the need to prep everything for compatibility with the new CCC coming in July. If it wasn't for that, the update would take maybe 10 minutes with broadband.

One of the main variables is the size of loop libraries. The EDM Percussion Loop Library is around 100 MB. I have to be careful not to do any 1 GB libraries

So I am guess this is one time because of new Command Center...

anyone reading this don't bother going through the thread scook posted unless you have some time, I think what he wanted me to see was this from Cakewalk.

A few of them have been updated to support the forthcoming Command Center update. As you may know, Command Center 1.0 loses track of what's installed if you log out, clear your cache, etc. Everything has been updated to improve that experience when the Command Center update launches. So, in many cases, the content installed hasn't changed. But you'll have to install them to get your lights showing green again.

The important ones to install, with actual new stuff are:

SONAR Core
Drum Replacer
Platinum Instrument Collection
Anderton Collection

Thanks you for the response Craig. Its too bad the Command Center has to reload every time you download something, it would give me back a minute or so. I like getting it all done and forgetting about it...but if this gets fixed in July "GREAT" :)

Glad to see I am not alone on this one. I thought Command Centre was the 1 stop shop for updates - I bought 2 Pro Channel strips this month - they did not appear in Command Centre - had to go to Cakewalk.com to download.

In the recent survey I did comment on the "slowness" of Command centre - and the inability to perform a update all - today I have the tedious task(monthly) of spending a few hours updating - although I look forward to the updates the application of them is tedious.

I am hoping that the good folks at CW are looking at more efficiencies in their download tool.

Yer - but the whole point is to keep the product up to date - how on earth are you supposed to work out what is and is not needed - the whole point of a orange warning light is to say Update.

Also - I find it annoying collapsing the "sonar platinum" and showing green when there are lots of updates still required.
PS - scribbling this at 05:12 in the morning before work doing my updates - which I cannot possibly finish before getting ready.

OK I think I understand...
But this is taking way too long. Also Command Center is not notifying me when complete as it says it will when I minimize. It does not pop up like I would expect.
This will take a few sessions but I am done for now 12 items completed in 2.5 hrs.
