  • (Busy getting fixed): Foxboro unmutes tracks when freezing.. (p.2)

Scratch the previous statement - freezing is just a disaster right now. The frozen audio is out of sync as well as tracks unmuting randomly. Yes, I use multiple tempos. Yes, this is a new project.

Not good when you're working on TV music to a deadline.

Why do I need to freeze tracks? For one, because having to trigger and play a 2 minute drone on a synth from the beginning to edit the end is insanely wasteful. That, AND it's supposed to work.

Out of curiosity, does bouncing to a track work in this project?

Have you tried the loose build I posted last Thursday? That should definitely address any tempo map issues with bounce or freeze. Regarding tracks getting unmuted we need a recipe or repro project since its not happening in any of the tests we tried.

Yup quite a few Q's have been asked in this thread and we aren't seeing anything specific that could be helpful for people to repro.

This isnt the same issue but I wonder if this is related codewise...

Update:
The problem is *NOT* project specific and is easily reproduced.
Happens on *EVERY* project. I have tested several projects.
I am using Noel's updated Sonar patch.

Mute all tracks in the project.
Unmute and Solo the track you wish to freeze.
Click the freeze icon.
Result:
1. if the track was an audio track all tracks (audio and midi) in the project are unmuted during freeze.
2. if the track was a synth track all synth tracks are unmuted, and random audio tracks are unmuted during freeze. Midi tracks appear unaffected.

I have not experienced another crash.

Since I do not freeze tracks this problem does not affect me. However it is a problem that needs addressed.

FWIW, I could not reproduce the unmuting problem per the recipe above in any of three projects I tried. If it's not project-specific for those who experience it, it might involve some specific preference setting or combination of preference settings or possibly O/S localization or Visual C++ redistributable version differences.

TTSLAME is Cakewalk's MP3 encoder.

Try copying/pasting the DLL into another folder like the main Sonar folder.
