I'm just glad that the core program continues to be updated and I don't have to pay anything for the updates. To me, that's fulfilling the promise of lifetime updates, even if the company that made that promise no longer exists.

I can understand that some people resent paying $199 or whatever it was for lifetime updates if others now get the same thing for free, but I don't think that's the case. If you paid for Platinum, you have a bunch of goodies new users don't get, and will likely need to pay for in the future. So you get to keep the goodies and get the program updated for free. Not a bad deal IMHO.

Ask your doctor about new Gratitude. Gratitude may have side affects like appreciation and actually getting music done with an awesome free DAW.

Yes but I don't want the same free Gratitude that everyone else is getting. I want the lifetime user's version Gratitude that tells everyone else I paid for it, damn it...

If it makes you feel better you can always show them the SPlat splash page showing you paid. I’m sure that will make your music sound 10 times better to them lol

I'm putting my lifetime updates for sale on ebay.

They're free. Just $1,000,000.01 for shipping.

Shame, I can only go to $1,000,000

Some people just can't be happy unless they have something to be unhappy about.

Muzdol,

Keep in mind that Sonar Platinum is gone, buried, 6 feet under the earth.  BandLab doesn't have anything to do with Sonar, their product is call "Cakewalk by Bandlab" .

So, for lifetime updates for the product once know as Sonar Platinum, you  will have to consult with Gibson about that, however, remember that Gibson ended Sonar Platinum.   So according to the contract with Gibson, you will receive lifetime updates to Sonar Platinum as long as Sonar Platinum exist.   Well News Flash, Sonar Platinum is no more as Gibson ended it's life.

Bandlab only is only responsible for the product, "Cakewalk by Bandlab", and they are not offering Life time updates, they are offering a free product..., it doesn't get any better that that.

Be happy and smile about the great news.

I said,
'but also no long face. things just happen, right?
just wondering why they suggest for joining their site with same email as cakewalk email.'

period.

It makes it easy to marry together the two user account databases.

And we were not going to have an absolute free ride for life anyhow.
Go back and read the fine print- It was Life Time UPDATES to Sonar Platinum.
There is a big difference between upgrade and update,, lets get that right.

This is what MIGHT have happened under Gibson if they stayed in business-  say a few years would have gone by and they would have come out with a new version , called it something else and offered it for sale. We would have been offered the usual upgrade offer.  There would have been 100's of people complaining that they have LIFETIME updates who did not get it.

Sonar Splat would have become a legacy version just like X3e and no more updates.
They would have honored your "lifetime update" with the LIFETIME of SPLAT.

I believe the subscription model negates any further "upgrades". This is why people pay monthly and not only when the product has an upgrade... I am not disagreeing with your intent though.
