  • SessionDrummer: I want hand claps + tambourines in one library

I'm really fascinated with SessionDrummer and not only its realism, but its variety of percussive sounds. And I like to use hand claps and tambourines a lot. The problem is, these particular elements are scattered throughout several SD drum kits. There are about a dozen different kinds.

Anyone have any solutions on combining my hand claps and tambourines into one...well, "library", so I have them all in one place when I need them? (This kind of goes with the same found in the other synths too.)

Thanks in advance! :)

If you locate the samples you like (in Cakewalk/Session Drummer/Content/Kits) you can just drag and drop them onto the SD3 interface. If you want to use layers, you have to find the respective sfz file (or create your own)

Look at a few of the sfz files in notepad or the text editor of your choice. Copy one as a template and add references to the samples you want to use in your custom kit or percussion pad.

I don't understand the sfz thing.  When I want to load a specific drum into a kit in SD3, if the sound is a wav, no problem.  If it is an SFZ, I can't use it because when I drag it in, I get a really low level sound.  Obviously, an SFZ must be a set of samples, but it is not clear how to pull them into a drum kit.

For individual kit pieces, right-click the instrument/pad or click the drum section in the bottom left of the drumkit view, select "Load Instrument", load the sfz file.
