For whatever the worth, I frequently just create one or more text or Word documents that I save in the project folder, with whatever information I wish to maintain on that project.

This way, I never have to rely on any particular utility program being maintained and functional when I need to go back and pull up information.

And, as the information is stored completely independently of the project, other than being kept in the same folder, I can have has much info as I wish, including screen shots, audio files of any discussions regarding the project, whatever I want or need.  I can also pull up any of that info prior to having to open up the project.

This is in addition to any track notes I may create within a project.

For me One Note is the thing. I have it stored in the cloud and have sections for Web Sites, Sonar techiniques, etc. and I create a section for each new composition. Since it's in the cloud I can get to it from anywhere, even on iOS if I choose.
