  • Bounce each line of notes to a separate tracks?

Is there a way, like lets say for example on a MIDI drum track, to bounce the track to a bunch of separate tracks, one for each line of midi note. So if all the Kicks are on C, you end up with one new MIDI track of just the C's.... if all the snares are on D you get another separate MIDI track of just the D's... etc etc... OR if there's no way to do that, bounce it all to separated Audio tracks, but again just the kicks on one, just the snares on one, etc etc etc... And not just for tracks from drum synths, I mean for any MIDI track.

Thanks!

"Split Note to Tracks" CAL script

You beautiful person. I knew it was probably easy. I also knew I should probably look into CAL scripts one day to see what they're all about since it's a part of Sonar I've always ignored....

Thanks!

CAL use to play an important role. I would suggest working with a copy of the MIDI track until getting comfortable with "Split Notes to Tracks" or any CAL script. CAL has not been updated in some time.

Yea it gave me some error about not being able to route the synth, but when I hit OK it still worked. It's certainly not a thing I would need to use on a very regular basis, but for once in a while, it will be really nice to be able to use. Thanks again.

CAL does not work well with instrument tracks. For best results, split instruments tracks before using CAL. Then run CAL on the MIDI track.

When you want to send the split note to a specific synth, you need to find out what number the synth is before you split the track. The synth may be on output 3 of the midi outputs.

I seem to recall someone had posted a while back about timing errors from the splitting process, where note event times were not quite right in some circumstances.  I am not 100% sure I recall that correctly, but as was posted earlier, you might want to work with a copy of the midi track until you are satisfied all is OK, and you might want to look at some of the event times post-split, just to be sure.

I don't believe anyone has been able to reproduce the reported timing issue. I have tried and was unsuccessful in getting the script to mess up timing.

I had no success with getting it to produce errors, either, but thought I should at least mention it had been reported - just as a cautionary note.  I would hate to have not said anything and this person run into errors and me then have to indicated I had knowledge that someone else had some issues earlier.

I think the script runs OK, at least it has every time I have run it.
