Is Platinum new...like just a few months or weeks old? I have not frequented these forums for a while and noticed some of the issues people are having it's reminiscent of a newly released software upgrade or has it been released for longer than a year in which I have to wonder what is happening and why are they so many issues?

Just asking!

The new Sonar has been released end of January 2015. With the new membership program, there have been 5 monthly updates since then.

6 months. I generally expect growing pains the first six, and for it to have completely died down after a year. So as far as I'm concerned from next month I would hope to see less growing pains..

That may be your perspective because of the problems you're having but for most Sonar gets better and better each release. I'm sure if you persist your issues will be settled.

Also there is for all practical purposes a new Platinum every month, so as with any new release, there are certain to be some issues. However, the difference is that with yearly releases, all the issues would hit at once and take months to fix. With the new model, when an issue appears, it's almost always squashed by the next release...sometimes faster.

So basically, Platinum was released two days ago.

I have to say I agree 100% with Mudgel - I've not had one problem since upgrading to Platinum on release. I'm just downloading and installing the latest upgrade.
For me Sonar is now totally rock steady (well X3 was as well for me) and extremely well behaved! We have just finished our latest CD totally using Sonar and it's now awaiting release. The amount of work we have done on Sonar Platinum is massive - 12 tracks all recorded and mixed in Sonar over a four month period - pretty intensive.
I sometimes wonder if all the "problems" people seem to have, are just initial pilot error, or external matters (sound card drivers??) causing issues with Sonar.

My view is that the release of Sonar 2015 proved to be the least buggy version ever released. Its just gotten better month after month. Yes there are bugs that is to be expected. Name a single DAW that is bug free?

John I could name ONE (how goes it my old Sonar faithful pal?)

Well this is the first Sonar that I have had that has presented a few issues. Maybe I need to re install Platinum and see if that helps!

The odd little issue has popped up with some of the monthly releases, but most have not caused me problems directly - they tend to be special use cases.  I've been using Platinum since it was released and have had no show-stoppers.  Very often, if a problem is found, a patch is released within a few days.  I have taken to installing the updates a week or two after they are released, when most issues have been identified and any more serious issues have been patched.

To be releasing some quite major updates monthly, I expect a few bugs along the way.  However, ultimately we are in control of the update schedule for ourselves - I wouldn't update in the middle of an important project.  That said, you can roll back to a previous release with the CCC if you have to.

Generally, I'm pretty happy with how things are going.
