  • Where do the Sonitus presets usually live?

I've suddenly lost my Sonitus presets after installing Foxboro. Anyone any idea where they should be, and what to install to get them back?

Cheers, Peter.

I am thinking Foxboro has created a new set of folders

first: use the file manager to search the C drive for the name of a preset

copy the folder to a safer location. It will be a buried folder with a long number as name

then open sonar, one of the sonitus plugs, and save a preset, then search for it

then copy the contents of the old folder into the new one.

They are (were*) in the respective .ini files in "%CakeHome%\Shared Plugins" ... alongside the .dll and .chm files.
(Actually they are minus the "Sonitus" prefix e.g., SonitusFXReverb.dll has it's presets in FXReverb.ini).

See the respective  .chm help files regarding the Preset Manager and Note:
The Sonitus:fx preset files use a proprietary format and are stored using the .INI extension. Although the presets are stored as clear text rather than binary data, you should not attempt to edit them manually. You should also note that they are not compatible with various types of preset files created by host applications, and such files can not be imported into the Preset Manager.

*Also note: I'm using / referencing  Sonar X3 (Steam).

This is one of the folders updated today:
C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Shared Presets\{141AC902-5344-726D-5345-5353494F7E31}

For me, the presets in these subfolders do not have file extensions.

If the Sonitus (direct x plugs) were not exported with the plug-in manager, they cannot be imported.
The only way is to copy the files.

Until S2015, all my presets have been stored on the D disk. Since I still want to use this structure I have to copy any new presets from the buried folder to where I want them to be. But until the CCC works properly I am doomed.

Thank you both for excellent suggestions.

I saved a distinctly-named preset, and it turned up in the registry but not in a file.

There were no *.ini files in the Shared Plugins folder. I installed X2, and they turned up. Now everything is OK.

I wonder if Platinum doesn't install the preset files, but nobody has noticed because we all have previous versions installed? I happened to do a clean install of everything recently, which wiped the X2 presets.

Cheers, Peter.

They are stored in the registry path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\ActiveMovie\Presets by CLSID. I believe the ini files are used during install to populate the registry.

Roll back to Everett and roll forward to Foxboro should re-install the plug-ins. You may be able to get them back by logging into your account, clicking on SONAR Platinum in connected products, download and install the Platinum Core Plugins 1.0.0.2.

Again, for Sonar X3 (Steam), for comparison ...

I only have 3 directories under "%PROGRAMDATA%\Shared Presets" namely and associated with:

0A7F7099-E2BC-4869-B943-914D70FB0FE6    ACT MIDI Controller
404C9315-693D-4715-A326-143A992FA784    Cakewalk Generic Surface
FEF20E38-35DE-4074-A9E1-F8644630292F    Psyn II

You could sorta tell what they were by there contents ... but I also searched the Win Registry for the ClassIDs - which gave me the description.

What's the contents of your changed directory? Do the look like SonitusFX? (or are you savvy to do a Registry search?)
(There's also ClassID mappings in the  Plugin Manager).

Ahhh - we are all cross-posting :P
Rule of Thumb ... When in doubt - trust scook :)

My 8.5 stored presets did no show when I installed X1.
Yet X1 did create folders with preset files. When I copied from my "old" folder to the new all were seen.

This must be for backward compatibility. And that now as they are stored in the registry they show never be lost to an update. Yes?

Peter - I assume you have the files in "Shared Plugin" now huh?

Scook - The files should exist huh? What's your access/visibility/clout to get this to the attention of Cakewalk?

(I want my Steam X3 to work when I press the button to install Platinum (purchased months ago via Cakewalk)).

AFAIK, the presets are read by the plug-in from the registry. That is one reason there is an export/import process in the Plug-in Manager. I don't have a clue about Steam and how it works. In a regular Cakewalk installation the files in ProgramData are the master which are copied during installation and re-personalization into the User directory.
