If you have more than one audio interface (WDM), make sure the playback and recording timing masters are actually set to the card you are recording/playing-back on.  What audio interface are you using?  Are you running the WDM or ASIO drivers in Sonar?  We need a bit more data to help you.

Also, if Platinum has reused the aud.ini file from a previous install, it may be worth deleting it and allowing Sonar to recreate it cleanly.

Bill.

When you do a new purchase of Sonar wouldn't the download be for the most up to date version? I'd like to know for certain just from the point of view of advising others.

Yes.

Im using an intel core i3 DDR 3 1TB sound Card: Saffire PRO 24 DSP
Yes I have been around for a long time and have never had this problem with Sonar usually my Sonar/s have no issues. Craig I have read other post here concluding that they are having the same problem. The advice they were given was to install Everett. I believe that comes with the new install of Sonar. I will have a look in the settings and see what is wrong. Hope you can understand why I am mad as I was recording vocals then not even a 3rd way through the song I started to have this issue. Infact it happened whilst Dim Pro was loaded but I still cannot see Dim Pro in my VST listings.

I was happy with X2 then this SMH it just made me think why did I bother down loading this very good app :)

I went to preferences:
Clock
then changed from Audio to internal
Tried recording again it worked!!!
However when I went back in to clock settings it had mysteriously changed itself back to Audio.  I changed it back to internal Apply then close. Tried recording it didn't work...went back into preferences: Clock: it had reset itself back to Audio.

I think you need to close and open Sonar again for the setting to stick.

I deleted the audio track that I was having problems with then made a new audio track cut and pasted the vocal into the the new one that seems to work how ever when I record an audio wav I wait a second or so before I hit the space bar. I feel like I've gone back to the early eighties. Its definitely not fluid this Platinum is it?

just as a side issue I previously bought sonar X1 I had no issues and still record in it no problems I also bought X2 producer excellent again and I stuck with it...its still a gem. I have not had to frequent these forums for a few years but platinum has me skipping hopping and jumping back into the forums. you all are lovely patient people I really hate technology getting in the way of my creativity.i would be embarrassed if this sort of thing happened infront of people I mean how long has platinum been out for now. I am never the first to buy a Sonar product I wait along time first then jump in as I cant be asked with fiddling about when I have more important things to do especiallywhen the creatives juices are bubbling up inside me and I have to grab my keyboard my mouse and my DAW and make a master piece but Sonar says no not today give it a rest I am not in no mood to help then I respond I paid my hard earned money I had to explain to answer to my manager and let them know how enthused I am for working for the company. This is my time to be the musical boss...Sonar says no!

That's all expected behavior, except that changing to Internal fixed anything. "Internal" refers to the PC system clock, and is only suitable for pure MIDI projects using hardware synths that aren't input-monitored with no other audio in the project, including SONAR's audio metronome. If there's any audio in the project, the clock is automatically going to revert to Audio.

The move to Platinum was as transparent to most of us as any other upgrade. There will always be a handful of users that encounter problems with any software upgrade due to environment-specific conditions. It appears you are one of the chosen few this time around.

The first thing I would suggest without having any more detail on the issue is to try renaming your AUD.INI file, and letting Platinum build a new one at startup.

Thanks vostro for the info I will try doing that...Another thing that happened synths that I cannot do without I installed dim pro and rapture and none of them feature in Platinum these are my go to synths. How do I get Platinum to see them????
