How about somebody helping you over skype(or something)? I think more people would be able to help....

Or describing your problems more specific so that the whole community may assist you.

Good luck,

Reza

I'm probably a bit older than you as I'm now retired and as such Old School, I prefer to have someone I can actually talk to to help me out, So I'll continue to find someone local. Thanks for your interest.

Let me welcome you Richard to the forum.

Hi John. I think you may be the guy to talk to. My goal is to sing over karaoke tracks, clean up/fx the vocals and save as recordings. I would like to be able to play the music track via my headphones and record the vocals separately. Can I do that with Sonar.

If you are in the UK? Where?

Rick

Yes Rick, you can do that easily.

You might find it even easier if you were to invest in a dedicated audio interface and bypass the internal sound chip altogether, and you don't need to spend a fortune - £100 will get you something of suitable quality with solid ASIO drivers (a must!)

Absolutely!

Sonar is a multi track audio and MIDI workstation. Bristol has answered your question correctly. I also agree with his assessment. Also I would urge you to purchase Sonar Artist.

Sonar LE is very limited plus its based on a very old version.

What you should get is Sonar Artist and a good quality sound card.

When you say Interface you mean a sound card. What type would you suggest?

Hi Rick,

I live on the Suffolk/Essex border but it happens that I'm dropping my wife off at Welwyn Garden City first thing in the morning (Wedn 1st July) and that's not too far away from you.  I could spend an hour with you if you like.

Send me a PM (personal message) with your details and we'll sort something out.

Regards,
Simon

OK Rick, I've sent you a PM, can you see that?

Otherwise, reply on here with your email address, if you're happy to do that...

Just so you know, I can't compare with the really experienced guys like John and Bristol Jonesy, but I do use Sonar and have written some stuff.  At the very least I should be able to point you in the right direction.

Rick can't as yet send a PM. He doesn't have enough posts under his belt.

This is a loaded question. Its too broad to answer. Let us know what you wish to do and we can give you a list. How many inputs. How many outputs? What sort of interface. USB, PCI or Firewire? How much do you want to spend?
