Hello, it seems like every time I try to record my hard synths from my midi recorded data, the program not only does not record the audio, but the program locks up and I have to restart the computer.  When I just replay the midi files, it works fine, I just can't record the audio.  Am I missing something?  Using Windows 7, 12 GB memory, quad core.  Platinum Sonar.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Art,
Welcome to the forum. We will need a little more info to troubleshoot this for you.
You say you can play back and hear the track, but you can't record the audio?
Do you have an audio track inserted that is routed as input from your audio interface output?
Did you arm the audio track?

Thank you for the quick response. Yes, I did arm the audio track, I chose
the midi track that I wanted the audio from. A couple of times the program
did not lock up but it also did not record the track, even though I could
hear the hard synth playing the midi file. I am also using a Fosurite pro
40 mixer, ASIO. I have been using Cakewalk for many years, but every time I
upgrade, I have to go through this whole new learning curve of trial and
error.
Thanks,
Art

Sounds like you're creating a midi loop.

Ignore the track with midi on it.  Create an audio only track and set its input to where you have your synth plugged in.  Arm that one for record...

Thank you Karyn, I will try that when I get done with work.

Would you please edit your subject line of the thread - to add something like [Solved]?  That helps others know it is resolved so they don't spend a bunch of time reading through the posts, trying to see if they can help, when it has already been fixed.  The other reason is that when others down the line are searching for fixes for this kind of issue, they will quickly see this thread being one offering a solution, which will cut down on the time they need to spend searching.

Thank you so much for doing the above, and I am glad you were able to get this working for you.  :)
