Morning all -

I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a decent (but affordable; just a hobbyist here ...) WAV editor that could be added to the Utilities menu and used inside of Sonar Platinum, running on a Windows 8.1 machine?

I tried Adobe Audition 3.0 - which has some nice features, and a GREAT price  - and while it can be added to the Utilities menu, I never could get it to actually launch inside of Sonar.

Thanks!

The only time I have read about issues launching an audio editor from the Utility menu the causes were: typos in the registry entry or a permissions problem. When running SONAR as administrator, Audition must be set to run as administrator too.

A great free audio editor which works well is Audacity. It also has a great set of plugins that have been developed for it. Also free.

When you're ready to add it to Sonar's tools menu go here for SonarToolsEditor to do it properly.

RR - Audition 3 works fine from the SONAR Utilities menu. Check scook's advice and either run SONAR and Audition as administrator, or both "not as administrator".

Have you got the registry settings correct?

The idiots at Sony has never heard of 64bit, so even the latest and greatest Soundforge 11 won't link with Sonar, Unbelievable, and not a cheap program either...

Actually soundforge 11 works just fine, called from within Sonar 64 bit... there are instructions somewhere on this forum for how to add the reference to the registry.     Here's the link.   http://www.cakewalk.com/S...e-to-SONARs-Tools-menu

Thanks guys -
Got Audition 3.0 working fine.

The key seems to have been making sure Sonar & Audition were both set to run as Administrator.

Appreciate the help!

In case anyone else is interested - WaveLab Essential works in Sonar as do Wavosaur and Waveshop (last two are freeware).

Mike, I've installed Audacity and all seems well (very cool), I've downloaded SonarToolsEditor, but when I was going install it, I wondered if there's a specific place where it's ideally to put the Exe Path & I have no idea of what to put the required Menu Text field.

I read through scook's thread and did a search, but if anyone knows please excuse my ignorance.

Thanks.
