• SONAR
  • Audio (WAV) editor for use as a Utility with Sonar Platinum? (p.2)

It does not matter where you put the SONARToolsEditor.exe. I put it in the Cakewalk "Shared Utilities" folder. If you set "Update Registry" to yes, a button is added to the SONARToolsEditor UI to add SONARToolsEditor to SONAR. It fills out all the fields based on where ever the SONARToolsEditor.exe was run. It is not necessary to add this tool to the Utilities menu.

When it comes to Audacity, use the browse button to the right of the "Exe Path" and navigate to the audacity exe. The menu text could be anything but I would suggest "Audacity". Adding an ampersand in front of a letter makes that the accelerator key. For example "&Audacity" would bind ALT+U+A to launch Audacity. ALT+U is predefined to open the Utilities menu.

The idiots at Sony has never heard of 64bit, so even the latest and greatest Soundforge 11 won't link with Sonar, Unbelievable, and not a cheap program either...

That does not seem right. Version 9 and 10 work fine with SONAR. I am pretty sure I have helped users of SF11 fix up the registry entry for SONAR. The tool I recently wrote might help. It does not matter that SF is a 32bit application, at least when communicating with 64bit SONAR.

Just an aside. I got frustrated with Sound Forge. it's true I just had the baby one, but yuk, not too much to like IMHO.
So back to Audacity, which at least makes sense and works well. Not to say it's not me, but with Audacity I'm fine, so I'll have SF around (but not installed) for Redbook if ever needed.

As much as i agree with Sony being slack about 64-bit. soundforge works within Sonar just fine.

Completely incorrect. Sound Forge links perfectly well with Sonar x64. The programs don't actually connect. Sonar just creates a copy of the specified audio file, and sends an instruction for the editor to open (SF in this case) with that copy of the file loaded with any highlighted audio also highlighted in the editor.

It's like giving a virtual double click to that file copy and using the editor as the default program, so whether that program is 32 bit or 64 bit is irrelevant.
If you want to add this function into Sonar use scook's SonarToolsEditor utility. 100% works. Available (along with many other useful Utilties created by our members) via the link in my signature.

Hi:)
I've tried Sonar Tools Editor with Audacity, now I can see it in the Menu, but when I start it with a Clip it is greyed out and nothing happens:( Are there missing some Arguments?
Both, Sonar and Audacity are in Admin Mode!

Thanks:)

I have audacity loaded and didn't have to enter any arguments

Try it with a whole audio track. There maybe a clip format problem. That will tell you if that's the case

Let us know how you go.

Also what is greyed out?
