I have been offered the upgrade from V3 for $79. (M32C that is)
Remember with
Starise we were doing some ITB and OTB box tests earlier. Just for fun I also compared mixing down a multitrack session of my son playing drums only for a Cirque audition. i.e. no music just the kit.
(Pristine recording too by the way. Sounds fabulous with no processing anywhere) I did two ITB mixes, one from Studio One and the other from Mixbus. I used no plugins on either. I also used no saturation either in Mixbus. I got a complete null or very very close to one that is. That tells me that with no plugins present in Mixbus, it is
not adding any sound at all to the mix. This did surprise me a bit actually and I am not rushing in to get M32C V4 either. The best thing about M32C is the EQ section. But recently I picked up the SSL E Channel for a very good price and it too is a marvellous EQ as well. Very similar in fact. I am not sure there is some huge magic mojo going on after all with Mixbus or M32C for that matter.
Harrison is more about the workflow, the GUI and the processing built into the channels, buses and the stereo buss. Plus their plugins which are excellent of course.
