  • Is the metronome related to GroovePlayer [Solved]

Keni
A friend is running into these two issues and I'm wondering if they are connected?

His metronome has stopped working
Attempting to start any new projects using any template he gets a popup stating that grooveplayer couldn't be loaded to the track LRS bus

Are these issues related? Loading older projects (not created with a suspect template) does not popup this message, but the metronome still isn't working.

Plugin Manager shows it enabled.

I've had him search for any such track/bus that might be hidden and told he does not see any such...

Thanks... I think he's trying a rollback to pre-bandloab install (back to X3 only)

The metronome bug has been there forever. Tell your friend to toggle the master effect bypass on the control bar. That should bring it back.

Thanks ampfixer...

Tried that... and everything else we could find via search here...

He just did a rollback and he's ok again without CbB though...

He's gonna wait for the next release...

maybe cbb has introduced a regression bug for the metronome, so the toggle no longer fixes it?

Not on his machine.

And what is the meaning of the grooveplayer error when using any new template?

Again i ask, is the metronome using grooveplayer?

Thanks...

did the toggle or the rollback fix it/

and iirc, yes, the metronome does use the grooveplayer (a dxi?)

Ah, thanks!

That info was nagging at me.

Yes, it's a DXi

I opened an instance of it and didn't find any means of loading a wav into it which is what I thought it was for.

So I'm guessing the only way to do that would be to place a copy of a desired wav into the folder with all the click wav files. 👽

I guess it's an expedient way of handling the metronome's needs?

Hi Keni,

If reinstalling X3 fixed it, reinstalling Cakewalk by BandLab would likely work too. Something probably got crossed during the install. The way the metronome works hasn't changed, so it's identical in X3/Platinum/CbB.

Thanks Jon...

He didn't re-install x3, he rolled back to his machine state prior to CbB install.

I haven't heard from him yet but i believe he was re-installing CbB late last night.

I'll post results as soon as I hear.

If hes getting that error on creating a new project the metronome dll is not registered for some reason or he has a bad grooveplayer dll. You can do this from an an admin command prompt:

regsvr32  C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared DXi\Groove Player\GroovePlayer.dll

this should register the metronome and make it work again.
The version of my GroovePlayer.dll is 2.0.0.2 date 2/15/2016
