I never was asked and I have ez keys, Ez Drummer 2 and Ez mix. If you were it would have been for information only.
John, If I wasn't 100% positive I would never say this. It is the computer ID, honest.

I have ez drummer and ez keys installed on my laptop and my desktop, for years. Which is perfectly fine with Toontracks. Linking the software to a computer ID code is the simplest way for companies to protect themselves.
I hope you get confirmation that you trust. Because you are missing out on some great advancements in CWbyBL.

You do NOT have to uninstall X3 either.
Most of us have Splat and CW splat installed side by side. No issues and that way your plugs are there also for Splat to use.

Alright.  Everybody (including me) can calm down.  I downloaded and installed Cakewalk by Bandlab and I'm happy to say I tested most things and everything seems to be working OK (including the original issue in this post re drum channels). My biggest issue was the plugin scans, but I know my way around that issue pretty well.  It initially only scanned 3 folders and my plugins are scattered over about 7 of them, but I did the manual scan and I'm only missing about 7 out of 245, so I guess I'll have to dig them up as I go along but I guess I'll eventually find them.
I didn't get to look over too much yet, but it does look kind of neat, and you're right about X3.  It was still intact.  That's how I compared the plug in content.  X3 has 245 and CbB has only 238.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Check which folders are being scanned in X3. Then duplicate the list. Simple.
Glad you got it worked out

I did, but there are still a few missing.  Every folder that X3 scanned I also made sure was scanned in CbB.  So far as I know all of the ones I normally use are all there and available.  I guess time will tell which ones are still out.  I had a bit of an issue with some of my Waves plugins, but I checked their documentation and found an almost hidden folder which I rescanned and now they all load.

So, why is NOTHING working for me here?!  I've taken every suggestion and no success.
John B

No, you didn't take all suggestions.

If you would have taken my suggestion in this post ( http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3752694 ) then you would have had the audio output of the synth (EZD2) recorded.

Oh, Sorry.  There was just so much going on at the time, I missed that one.  Besides, I don't know how to freeze tracks.

Yes I knew that from what you were saying. I was trying to get you to realize that's the only way to get the sound recorded out of a soft synth in X3. You have to freeze them.

Unless you route out of X3 back into and new trk, but that's a whole 'nother story.
