Thanks Scook, I uninstalled the installer also. Redid the install of both. This time Norton AV was happy with the installer (the initial install upset both Norton and Win10 security) and everything seems fine. Even where I have my files stored all stayed as it should.

I opened up Themes in Preferences and there was an option to edit themes. Not that I’m into that. As a matter of fact I have been so used to Sonar Mercury I got thrown when I looked at Reaper with all its theme choices.

Don't forget you can also run 'Cakewalk Theme Editor' (as it's now called, since it's a separate app from the original SONAR Theme Editor) from the Windows Start menu, as well as from the Preferences->Themes->Edit button.

the following are now available in the new "Install Addons" menu:

  • Studio Instruments Suite
  • Drum Replacer
  • Melodyne
  • Theme Editor

Wow, that's surprises me. Melodyne essential is a $99 application. That's a bit of a coup for Bandlab as I see it. I kind of expected the other 3 listed, but thught that would be down t the user t purchase from Celemony.

I do not believe it is Melodyne Essential. Celemony has a free 30 day trial of Melodyne Studio.

Thanks for the update Meng, Noel and all in the CbB bakery :)

Update went smoothly and Bitdefender AV didn't interfere this time (with added firewall rule allowing BA).

I am only interested in the bug fixes as I already have the "addons" covered by SPlat or 3rd party stuff (e.g. Melodyne Editor). Mainly keen to ensure that CbB doesn't mess with any paid 3rd party stuff and so far it's looking good.

I think I've managed to install the new version; BandLab Assistant is still saying an update is available.

My confusing experience so far:
- I opened BandLab Assistant and it said a new version was available (of itself) so I clicked to update.
- This took a couple of minutes but it was an anxious wait as nothing showed on the screen that anything was happening. But it was so all ok.
- The Assistant then said a new update was available for CbB so I clicked for it and it said 'installing' for seven or eight minutes, then finished, although no signs of installation appeared on the screen.
- I opened CbB and checked the version number: no change, still the old one.
- I clicked install again on the Assistant and a few minutes later all the expected popups appeared unpacking and installing the new files.
- I was then asked if I wanted to install Studio Instruments and clicked 'no'.
- I opened CbB and all seems well, including the Powr dithering options reappearing (thanks guys!)
- But: the Assistant is still saying 'a new version is available'.

Puzzled.
EDIT: I installed again and got to the same problem. I guess if I don't want Studio Instruments I will always have to put up with the Assistant telling me I need a new version. Bring back the Command Centre which understood me!

Curious...Does it just install or does it download the exe so we can save it?

Can't we just copy the exe to a safe place after installing?
It must have the same name with the same associated dlls as Sonar did?

I had a similar experience when updating BA. Ultimately, I quit BA and restarted it. After restarted, BA updated OK. The current version of BA is 3.0.8.
