  • MIDI editor doesn't work in Sonar X2 producer

If I mark a track resp. a clip inside and try to open the MIDI editor, nothing appears.
I tried all possibilities: by menu, by shortcut ALT +3 and by double click on the clip.
The other two windows like note editor will appear in the multidock immediately.
I'm using an X2 updated by the patch producerX2apatch. System: WIN 7 Professional.
Formerly I never had such problems in X1.
Very annoying!

Hi. What does happen, when you double click on it?
Best of luck.

Ok. Sorry. Just wondered if something else opened. Hope you get it fixed.

What do you mean by MIDI editor?

"SONAR provides several views you can use to edit MIDI data. You can specify which ediitng view
should open by default when you double-click a MIDI clip. To do so, click the Track view Options
menu, point to Click Behavior > Double-Click > MIDI Clips, and select the desired default editing
view. The options are as follows:
• -Nothing-. Prevent any view from opening when you double-click a MIDI clip.
• Event List View. Open the Event List view when you double-click a MIDI clip.
• Staff View. Open the Staff view when you double-click a MIDI clip.
• Piano Roll View. Open the Piano Roll view when you double-click a MIDI clip.
• Inline Piano Roll View. Open the Inline Piano Roll view when you double-click a MIDI clip."

Thanks for your advises.

What do you mean by MIDI editor? = Piano roll view

I have checked the track view options. The setting for double-click is (and was) = Open the Piano Roll view.
Nothing happens.
The other options (step sequencer etc.) do shown up in the Multidock.
I reinstalled Sonar today (with administrator rights) and updated it by the patch producerX2apatch.
The same situation. I never had like this in X1.
The shortcut alt + 3 (show piano roll view) doesn't work as well.
Now I'll try to reinstall the C++ runtime files (2005 and 2010) and recently I have no mores ideas.

A very outside chance, but you didn't happen to previously save this project (and screenset) on a computer with 2 monitors did you? I had a quirky problem like that once in X1. It was opening the prv on a screen that was no longer there, so as a result it looked as though nothing was happening!

No, I am using one monitor only, also in the past.
In the meantime I updated to Sonar professional.
For a short time (a few days) I had got the piano roll view and was happy.
Now it is disappeared forever again.
No chance to open it by double clicking a clip or by using the shorcut alt + 3.
I deinstall Sonar X2, maybe the two version don't like each other - the same.

De installing Somar won't change a thing unless you also edit the registry as well as manually delete a few particular folders. There is a known procedure to do this properly.

It sounds like you have a screen set that is locked and is not allowing you to get at certain functions.

Is it possible that the prv is minimized? Did you ever drag it out of the multidock? Just thinking outside the box.
