84 - 804 must have been mixed up with 808.

Bummer with PSP going to ilok, and will send my complaint also for the nothingness that it will be worth in the long run.

Know that this is a debated issue with the majority of everyone embracing Ilok and PACE with love and excitement.

One of the last holdouts here against the strong arm wave of the future. Won't be too long before the idea of a serial number activation is unknown. Cakewalk already on board.

Still we are currently short of everything only available in the Cloud, so will look back on this as the good old days at some point. No local installation, but your software license in a remote cyber location. Want to use your reverb, got to log in. May work if you beg low enough.

looks like PSP is moving back to iLok. This could be good for people interested in their plugins because it seems every new build that requires iLok is being offered at heavy discount. And the more of their plugs you own the more the discount accumulates.

the ilok requirement does not necessarily mean a dongle (the software ilok can be used, in the same manner as the waves dongle)

There is a problem with the no dongle Ilok which I hope nobody has to discover blind sided.

Guess I just envy the majority of you guys who have never had a problem with Ilok, PACE, dongles.
My karma is that anything related to Ilok, PACE, dongle has turned into a wretched nightmare.
In all fairness, there are a couple non dongle Ilok programs I activated that went thru with a couple mouse clicks.

Recently had a computer meltdown. Motherboard toast. Have enough street smarts to replace the board and get everything running again. That was the easy part. The software circus was next. Posting just to document what worked and what didn't.

The post holocaust landscape had authorizations, PACE crap, Ilok crap dumped with error messages that the software is not authorized. Messages that I've exceeded my authorizations, go buy another license.

AAS softwares reverted to the demo mode (Ultra Anolog etc). IK dumped authorizations for the synths but retained Amplitube 4. Eventide plugs now unauthorized wanting money. Xpandi dumped. Noted that Kontakt Complete still stayed authorized. Cakewalk ZTA dumped. I only have Sonar X2, so was not affected. Others dumped.

Started the slow begging ritual. Ilok accounts saying that I've exceeded my two computer activation (laptop and PC). I can't remove the activation or reactivate because the changed motherboard makes the computer different and Ilok can't deactivate the pre crash computer to transfer the license. Buy another license.

All of this is taking time, excess time to get back to ground zero.

Went through the begging ritual with Xandi. Provided all the details and assurance that I was not trying to rip off the system. They were kind to reset the Ilok account. To their credit, the reset was done in half a day of the request.

Looked at the road ahead and days of grief. Went straight to Icrack and "authorized" the rest of the programs. Don't even have to put up with the PACE block if I forget to manually start the "service".

I guess my problem is being imprinted in the dim past when you bought a software and received a serial number to activate. Adobe Photoshop, MS Office, anything purchased was delivered with your personal offline activation.

Now we are comfortable to go through the process of not having anything of our own. One computer failure away from realizing how helpless we are when trying to get back on our feet and using what we morally paid for. Why did we let this happen.

i did, you do, so i went back to the previous version, not happy about them changing this on an already released fx grrrr

Agreed. Not happy about this either. I also see all of their plugs going to Pace. And I will not deal with those people. And I have a fair amount invested in PSP.

Agree with John, how did we let it get this way?

Thanks Grem. Been in the trenches with you for many years, Holy War on different forums.

Documenting my happy dongle experience. Not to whine and blubber, just to document. Maybe someone else (hopefully not) faced the same frustration and has a fix or advice.

My first dongle was with Pod Farm. Didn't know what a dongle was. Rock solid as long as the box is plugged in.

Second dongle was with Peavey Revalver 4 against my better judgement. Hell in a handbasket came down after the purchase.

Demo worked fine. Sounded great. Fired up the plastic and went through the dongle authorization. Read the fine print about what a bummer it will be to reauthorize if you lose or damage the dongle. Agreed and paid the price for admission.

Dongle version after paying crashed everything.

The tech support for Peavey was great. Had to adjust to the Europe support group to troubleshoot, so was up from 1 to 5 in the morning. Nearly a 4 hour marathon to patch the problem.

The tech guy was great, held my hand through inspiring processes, bouncing back and forth from different computers, moving the dongle so I could cut and paste obscure registry entries and files back to the crashed computer.

Got it running although can't launch the standalone and can't access their custom shop to activate the Angel amp activation. Dead in the water regarding any progression forward. Cutting my losses and calling it a partial win.

My last dongle for anything. Burned again.

For me John it was a very long time ago. When AutoTune first came out. You want the problem fixed? Buy another key. Price of key? Full purchase price. I swore then to never deal with these people again.
