Hi Mel - that's interesting. I have just shutoff this option in SONAR and will test it out. I rarely get crashes (good thing right?), and am not inclined to force the issue. When I do get a crash, inevitably due to a shady 32 bit plug, I have to wait for the Midi activity icon to clear before I can delete SPlat from the Task Manager. I had always assumed this was my M-Audio driver holding on to the port for a period of time following the crash - never occurred to me that it could simply be the status monitoring/icon on the SONAR end.
Thanks.
I haven't had this issue for a while...
I just assumed it was because I had this option off.
EDIT: I remember being fed up with this issue and,
after some digging,
I THINK the answer I came up with
was that
ALONG WITH the midi monitor icon disabled
the
Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth has to be disabled
as well in midi preferences... you may even(if you are brave)
find the associated
dll and rename it so Sonar doesn't see it.
I am almost certain that the MS Synth is the hanging device.
Worth a try.
