Well, you get a lot more than just fixes for the price of the update and I think most software companies, including Avid, don't do new bug fixes for versions that are no longer being sold. A lot of SONAR users feel features like VocalSync, Mix Recall, VST3, Melodyne support, and others (which Pro Tools doesn't have) are pretty significant. As to the membership program, regarding Pro Tools you might want to
look before you leap and check out the fine print.
Not saying SONAR is perfect, but as someone who's used every DAW out there except Reaper (couldn't get past the UI),
no DAW is and the grass is not always greener on the other side. However, there are usually some patches that are greener, which is why different people choose different DAWs.
