Someone annoyed by buying upgrades recommends Pro Tools?

Yeah, that's a bit ironic, isn't it?  Haha.  The Avid forums are full of people complaining about the same subject (at a much higher price, I must add.)

Spencer Davis ought to be pissed about that video, ripping off I'm A Man. But I always preferred Chicago's take on it.

I can understand being unsatisfied, but I too find it odd that you refer to Avid when they pretty much are doing a less flexible and more expensive version of the same thing. Avid has awful customer support. Be upset with Cakewalk/Gibson. Bent away your frustrations, but don't let your anger cause you to jump from frying pan into fire based on that. It's like choosing Mac over Windows because MS is a huge corporate bully and ignoring the fact that so is Apple.

I would say Pro tools has nothing over Sonar.

Well, Pro Tools has native Mac support. But I know quite a few people who run SONAR under Boot Camp with a MacBook Pro. They claim it's the best Windows laptop available

Yep ! Its an odd first post but its not spam. Over the years, I have produced countless projects in Sonar. I'm just disappointed!
In the past I have always stayed one version behind intentionally. Don't have to deal with bugs that way and by the time I bought it, of course it was 1/2 price or less. Guess those days are gone...lol
    Just venting some frustration here!

Thanks for the comments and opinions

I use both because I have to sometimes.
I still prefer Sonar. Don't kid yourself Pro Tools has plenty of bugs as well.

I'm not sure those days are gone.
You can buy 12 months, so you get to keep the product. Then but another 12 months 2 years later.

Will there be price reductions during certain periods? Well there was an introductory price, I don't think cakewalk has ruled out a sale price at certain times of the year. Wait and see.

The funny part for me was - Avid ProTools, did you at all check out the new policy of theirs from oct last fall?

Buy ProTools, $899 and then annually $199 to stay in their support/upgrade plan.
Stay out one year and message from Avid is - Buy new license $899!
Yes, you can use the version you bought - but cannot re-enter support plan.
Buy new is your option.

Or you can rent license for $29/month - and it stops working when stops paying.

Or buy HD version, if you feel you need on track monitor or something.
$3000 or so, and annually $599.
Still unclear how you get a working license if staying out one year - buy new hardware too?
Really odd beast....

Cakes policy is really fair and if this is better for them - I'm in supporting that.
Stunning piece of software Sonar - and for more than fair price, me running Artist.

Cakewalk also believes this will be better for customers because of customers not having to wait for features, the potential for a more stable product, and the inclusion of content. As pointed out earlier in this thread, you can still buy SONAR more or less the way you could before if you'd prefer that.

For me the biggest issue with Pro Tools isn't the bugs or the lack of tools I've come to depend on in SONAR, but I get lower track counts at equal latency settings.
