Comment, this is a really fun thread and a great idea! But it could put the forum out of business!

6. Access the Sonar forum for help 24 7.

I first thought of putting this as a link on the start page itself (as well as the Help menu where it is).

The "wiki" idea keeps coming back to mind in the form of a "tips, tricks, and how-to" page simply because there are a LOT of these scattered in the forums, but no real consolidated location for them (so they get asked/explained repeatedly). More specifically having these in a step-by-step type format so a new user can follow along.

Hmmm... how about a "search the forum" feature (start page or help menu, or both) that lets the user type in search terms but prefaces the search with "site:forum.cakewalk.com " for them? Then new users won't be caught offguard trying to use the embedded one

Hope I'm not duplicating anything.

#1. PDC button in Control Bar - to create a vip lane for monitoring through Sonar.
Lifesaver when needing to record something late in mixing process.
Gobal bypass is up there too.

#2. Dim on Solo - to not flood phones with more than you need for a take.

#3. Track templates - yet another lifesaver.
Multimike setup in a flash, full setup of brass section with busses and all.
There is no limit what you can use it for.

Top of the list.

Pay absolutely NO ATTENTION to bapu. It only makes matter worse if you do.

Instead of using the File menu or the Quickstart dialog to create a new project, use ctrl-N (close the quickstart dialog first or even better set it to not open at all)

It will make a new project using the Normal Template WITHOUT requiring you make a directory or give the project a name.  And yes this is because ctrl-N is mapped to a different function (plain "New") than File->New.

You can create more realistic drum parts by using the Quantize and Velocity MIDI plugins on your drum tracks to randomly vary the timing and velocity of the hits.
