I am very interested in purchasing Sonar Platinum, I have checked the faq sheets but can't find any answer to my question. My question is. I see that there is and offline authorization to activate Sonar from another computer that connects to the internet, is there an option to update Sonar Platinum from another computer that connects to the internet. The reason why I am asking because the computer that I use does not connect to the internet because of previous virus and system instability issues related to internet and I would prefer to no have my studio computer access the internet at all. Is this possible or am I out of luck?

Please help thanks

You need a computer that connects to the internet to get the install files from your Cakewalk account.

You can then move those install files to your DAW.

Bear in mind that you cannot use the Cakewalk Command Center (aka CCC) and all subsequent updates will need to be manually done in the same way.

Yes Sonar can be installed and authorized on an offline computer. Please read this article.

I had the same security concerns with my music computer. My solution is to have an internert connection and to connect only when I must. That's usually only the Sonar updates. It minimizes the exposure, I hope.

Ok sounds great thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure before I plop down 500 bucks for the software. As long as I am able to update my studio computer without connection to the internet using another computer that does then I should have no problem. I have tried the same thing you have herbroselle, and unfortunately it cause some issues as well so I think it is best to be completely offline on the studio computer.

Thanks for the info has been very helpful in my decision.

Depends on how it connects. I have an external ethernet wireless receiver and I do not have any issues with my DAW when connected.
