Quick question... Does "extract individual hits" mean that this can pull samples for use in say Session Drummer 3, or that it simply "removes" them discreetly? (I.e. is this sampling capability?)

It means you can get the time of all kick drums, for example, from a drum mix (in most cases). Those hit markers can be used to trigger samples in Drum Replacer, or can be converted to MIDI by dragging the clip to a MIDI track.

It does not mean you can "lift" a sample from a mix.

I'm sure there is more info coming but that material seems to imply we'll be able to load samples right into the DR thingie. If so kind of curious how that will work and what kind of files we can cram in there... and I guess whether that gets printed right to audio. Like choose hit(s), load sample, sample audio replaces original audio.

That could do some interesting stuff and with a few extra steps accomplish what I think mettulus was asking about (drag copy a hit from audio to create a one shot sample the drag it into the DR load section).

Probably pipe dreaming but you got me ole imagination abuzz. Looking forward to a vid of this in action.

No need to reply. I'm just brainpoopin.

Edit: and I've been curious about those CF drum samples (almost snagged a kit a while back with some of the Cake bucks we got for something or other but got something else instead)... so that's a nice add on.

Thats my main question too really.....will we be able to use our own drum samples like you can by just dropping a file onto the appropriate drum in session drummer or is it a proprietary format?

I'm looking forward to playing with this. It just might open up a whole new area for recording drum tracks for us non-drummers.

Yeah it seems intriguing to me too, though likely for different reasons than most - I hardly ever (well basically never) record real drums but it could be a very cool creative tool to misuse...
