Yes, Dim Pro and Rapture Pro have drum RX2 samples in this multisample folder:
72 - REX Drum Loops

But I did not see any sfz files that refer to them.

When I load one into Rapture Pro, say, from
Dim Pro (legacy)
   Expansion Pack 2
      Drum n Bass Breaks
           Db_155_K01_Lp03

I see Rapture Pro plays slices across a range of keys.

When I open the file in a Sonar Audio tack and look at the Loop Construction view I see about 16 slices.

But I don't know how the slices map to MIDI notes.

I'm not much of a REXpert, anyone know how that's supposed to work?

All I know about DPro Recycle support comes from the help file. It details how the files are played. I have not played with them much.

I see that, thanks.

DPro uses a fixed mapping - C4 onwards selects a slice.
Other lower notes play the loop and can do various types of pitch changes.
Rapture Pro must do the same thing.

I guess these are implementation details, I haven't seen any mention of how RX2 can contain MIDI mapping data built-in. But I didn't look too hard.

Seems more directly aimed at multi-tracked live drums than my *needs*. I'd like to take some live recorded drum tracks that are simply stereo mixes and extract midi from them. It's mature enough right now to give me a three separate drums, but nothing more.

Still, it's a nice advancement for ARA. It will mature.

I agree, I am in the same camp.
I think that is most likely the goal of the tool considering replacing and enhancing separated pieces is "relatively" simple as is.

After playing with it some it works ok for enhancing live and muddled tracks but takes tweaking... there would be just as much work to the exported midi it seems, making it pointless unless it was just for timing and tempo.

If you could add a little input gain for freq separation, and the biggest missing feature ... to add transients at will, then it would go a long long way.

Here's an article about RXP and DropZone, both of which have some very interesting REX file playback attributes: https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar09/articles/sonarworkshop_0309.htm

Thanks, that reinforces what I read in the help file.

Thanks Craig.

I should learn more about it, if only to help others with their questions.

I'm very much into the REX thing, so I can help out. FWIW SONAR is quite flexible in terms of handling REX files, but no one seems to know it because the instruments that provide this flexibility were added so long ago I think people forget they exist. Cakewalk should just do new graphics for them, include them in an update, claim they're new, then sit back and accept the accolades LOL.

In {another drum replacer}, each drum hit replaced has a semi-randomization that's applied so that each replaced hit isn't always exactly the same--where variances in power and and left-right articulation plays into what the results will be. Is that capability available or going to be available in this new drum replacer? Also, will there be ongoing new samples to choose from?
