My question too, will this be an upgrade in Sonar Platinum as a free download, or will this cost the Sonar Platinum users some $$.

Peace

If you are getting the monthly or yearly payment plan ('membership') it's yours.

What's next? BazzReplazer?

BapuReplacer ;-)

of course, it will get a fancy name like "AutoMix", "MixDeskRider", "FaderPilot", "StudioBot", or just "42"

Wet your pants if you like... But spare a thought for the poor drummer .. All his life playing at the back of the stage... Never getting any attention... And now this...

We need your help.. For just 1 dollar a month you can keep a drummer eating.

For 2 dollars you can contribute towards his drug fueled existence.

For 3 dollars he may get on X factor.

Folks.. The drummer is nearly extinct.. The studios he plays in have all but disappeared.. Please give generously..

And if you give now you will get a free pair of drum sticks as a special thank you..

We'll be telling our grandchildren about ancient times before drummers became extinct ...

Who's gonna look after all the girls that always fancied the drummers?

These tools don't replace drummers. They do make dodgy drum recording methods more viable, though.

Not being snooty there; I expect I'll use it a lot.

Or the girls who play better than most guys?

Listed in "comedy," but she is no joke. Check her stick work at 1:20.

By default that would be the bass players, then rhythm guitar. Front men and lead guitar can split the rest.

I wonder if it would be feasible to record a kit with some overheads and supplement the bottom of the kit through this process with good results.

Yes as as long as there are enough transients in the low end you should be able to mix in different samples to supplement the kick.

Is there going to be a way to integrate a 3rd party drum instrument?
I've invested thousands of dollars in Superior Drummer and it's content.
I don't want to spend yet more money on drum packs from yet another vendor.

Yes, via ARA MIDI drag and drop you can get the MIDI events for all the detected hits from drum replacer and map those to Superior Drummer.

Sounds like it could be Audio Snap 3 with a new name.

Seems to run via ARA, so looks like a different kettle of fish

Its pretty different from audio snap. The hit detection engine is frequency based and can be tuned to hone to specific drum hits using the filter control. It doesn't use any of the audio snap functionality.

Yeah it seems intriguing to me too, though likely for different reasons than most - I hardly ever (well basically never) record real drums but it could be a very cool creative tool to misuse...

It has some serious creative misuse possibilities since you can replace or mix in an alternate sample for any "hit" in the source audio material. It doesn't discriminate on source content.
