Yeah it seems intriguing to me too, though likely for different reasons than most - I hardly ever (well basically never) record real drums but it could be a very cool creative tool to misuse...

It has some serious creative misuse possibilities since you can replace or mix in an alternate sample for any "hit" in the source audio material. It doesn't discriminate on source content.

That's what I was thinking about. I want to throw all sorts of rhythmic material at it, and drop unrelated but interesting samples in, and see what kind of glorious nonsense I can build a track around...

Its also a perfect solution to the "more cowbell" problem <g>

I'm guessing this week... Next weekend the month ends and I don't remember ever getting a release on the weekend...

I totally misunderstood. I thought it was a Drummer Replacer, and I was wondering how that might be implemented.

FWIW regarding ARA, I did a test a while back using Dumagog's conversion to MIDI function and then used the ARA method with Melodyne. Both were done to the same track in SONAR. The results were identical on both tracks. So I'm very much looking forward to this new feature in SONAR. I've been a Drumagog user since '06, but it hasn't een much support lately and would really enjoy having a feature in SONAR that was integrated rather than 3rd party vst.

We will have to see when it gets here, but if it creates a MIDI map for sample replacement, there would be nothing to stop the user from adding more notes (cowbells).

Also, I think in "misuse" one could replace a drum with nothing, then phase-reverse the before/after track get samples if desired. I will definitely run this through the ringer once it hits the streets.

And are we going to get some thorough documentation along with the release? Like an addendum to the manual? A lot of the stuff with platinum has been very cool indeed but much of it is self explanatory, documented and/or not as complex/pertinent to more important work I'm doing.

This seems like a very in depth tool and the more I think/speculate about it I really would like to master every facet of it so I can apply it to this upcoming adventure. In fact the reason I have been studying so hard for so long is so I can get this album together as professionally as possible (and it is going to take every trick in the book due tot he nature of the recorded material). If this is going to do even half the crap I think it will be included in the equation and I need to learn as much as I can about it before I begin.

Again, apologies but you got me all kerfluffinated and excitamacized. Need info or may asplode.

I am also a little kerffuffled. I hope this will have instructions on how to set up my Alesis Red line drums as I am having problems with that very thang. Couldn't have came at a better time.

So far I've been pretty impressed with the online Help keeping up with the new features and updates to existing features that have been updated. Cakewalk are also expanding the video and tutorial library slowly but surely. Lots of little useful add on tools being created by members all augurs well for Sonar and the membership.

The one thing I like about drumagog is that it can load another drumpler (i.e. Superior, BFD etc) as the sound source and trigger that.

Perhaps you could start a thread in the Sonar forum with details of the problem you're having and see if we can help.
