Neither techno or hardhouse has ever been truly mainstream so the chart card is somewhat irrelevant. as already pointed out, Rockit was more electro than techno..certainly not a 4 to the floor type song. In any case, we are talking in circles, but i doubt you find anyone who dj'd or went to clubs that played techno ( me being one of them) during the 80's that would lump rockit in there. I would lump it more as a mainstream version of the various electro songs of that same era.

Do folk musicians argue over sub-factions of their genre that nobody else would recognize?  I once volunteered to do live sound for a folk show (well, my wife volunteered me for a badly organized show).  Texas, summer, no break, no water no food.  And hours of singer songwriters.  When I die and if I don't make it, I know exactly what hell will be.

Neither BT, Herbie Hancock, or Skrillex are included in the next membership update. You have my word on that.

Thank God for that

My only complaint with AD2 is the midi problem. By problem I mean it will not read any midi file I have properly. EZDrummer has no problem with them, but AD1 and 2 both will not play them. Anyone know how to fix that?

I think for the upgrade price though with all that you get with AD2 it's a pretty sweet deal.

I can't remember the actual file path, but I have all my EZDrummer midi files working well within AD2. The only downside is that you have to manually re-name the EZDrummer files. If no one offers you the correct file path, I'll re-post once I get to my DAW tonight.

EDIT UPDATE......
The file path is:  Documents > Addictive Drums 2 > External Midi Files

It's not the EZD purchased midi files specifically (although that's good to know), just general midi files. Example. If I export the drum track from say, Guitar Pro, and use it in EZD it works like a champ. AD1/2 doesn't read them right.

Just reading about it terrifies me.

I was under the impression that any general midi file will work in AD2 if it's inside the "External Midi Files" folder. However, I've only put midi drum files in there (the non AD ones). If this doesn't work, you should send an email to XLN, they're quite good with their customer support.

On a seperate note, regarding the birth of techno/dance/trance music........I thought it was obvious and everyone knew that the true pioneers handed it down from POLKA!!!!

Keep the deals coming guys ! I produce a wide scope of musical styles and I need an extensive library to choose from so to have the Addictive Drums library is a great asset to me.  Also Platinum is great.

I agree. I do EDM-Pop, but great quality acoustic drums are nothing but an asset to me. Not only the totally realistic 'Crash Cymbals' but also the snares and the closed Hats, but also a classic Rock Drum set for the break-beat parts instead of the old tacky electronic over-processed break-beats. Cakewalk adding the Addictive Drums brand is a welcome addition. Thumbs-up from me for AD2. Cakewalk has got it right. All we need now (i just had to say again didn't i) is a dedicated EDM drum Machine and we're well on our way from a DAW-package point-of-view. Think Motu "BPM" or NI "Battery 4" ilk. Pretty please Cakewalk, pretty please...

Ouch, but still laughing ... sounds more like Pflugerville than Kerrville.

This thread is reminding me of some drummers I've played with .....

Before people start to speculate why I edited Craig's post, well I screwed up and I've PM'd Craig to apologise about it. A simple mix up with the edit and quote buttons which are very near each other on the cellphone version of these forums..

Consider this a public apology as well for editing Craig's wisdom. Sorry.

No, you were right to edit it, and especially to remove the schematics. I got overly excited at discovering anti-gravity, but as your PM said, how would I know this power would be used only for good? I simply wasn't thinking.

Thanks Craig... Actually I enjoyed the post, I'm really annoyed I totally screwed up by editing it by accident and effectively deleting it . Sorry!!!
