Any news on when cakewalk intend to release a demo version of either pro or platinum?
Looking at the new features I don't see many that really make me want to upgrade (£118 for me) but I do like the sound of mix recall, been a long time coming though.

I'm still using 8.5 as I really don't like what they did with the midi side and awful smart tool and I know that's never going to be like it was in 8.5 but I can work so much quicker the old way, and yes I have tried.

I don't think there will be one Steve.

The rationale being if you want to try it, it will only cost you £9.99 for a fully unlocked month.

You should try it - you'll be pleasantly surprised!

It's $9.99 (£6.43) for sonar artist but $49 (£32) for platinum so £32 is a lot to spend if it's not want I want.

I don't suppose they've made the piano roll and midi tools any better? I've spent the last two days trying to like it but it's a pile of sh#te compared to 8.5. With the draw tool I could move notes up and down, audition note, move them back and fourth as well as stretch and shrink them, now it only does one of those things.
I can't understand why everyone thinks that's an improvement?

Yes we are planning for a demo but it will behave the same as demo mode in the current product. i.e no File save etc.
The ETA at the moment is approximately when we do the next release.

The PRV and other areas of the program are vastly improved compared to 8.5. Its more modern editing workflow compared to the old Win 3.1 style editing that 8.5 had :) And there are several new tools. However like learning anything you have to invest a some time learning how to use the new tools before you will be productive as before.

And you can do all you are describing and more with the smart tool once you learn the hit zones.
Please take a look at this link describing the tools, and this one that is specific to editing notes in the PRV with the smart tool.

Steve if you approach Sonar Platinum as you have BFD3 you'll reap benefits that you at present can't imagine. Its that much better! You know what I'm talking about.
