Well i just started a personal website so i already intended to write such guide... I can simply copy them to a post i think.
Is there any appropriate place in the fórum for that?

HOLY CRAP! CRAIG! I just did the simple tweaks described here and while I have been happy with my computer and interfaces performance, I am blown away. I just finished running a 32 track project with the 2 Studio Captures. Before the tweaks, this project had to run around 256 and up on the buffers. This same project is now running at 48 samples in ASIO!
This project is running 2 instances of Superior Drummer, 1 instance of Garritan, 1 instance of DimPro, 1 instance of Addictive Keys, and every audio channel is decked out with console emu, QuadCurve, compressors and gates, etc.
I just loaded up everything but the kitchen sink. This project used to sputter around 256. Now, everything is running like a top at 48 and the computer is looking at me like "Is that all you got?"
Thanks, guys! This is by far the best fix anyone has donated here. Another reason to say if you want to learn about digital recording from top to bottom, this forum is the place to be.

This worked well for me as well. I went from 256 to 64.

This tip alone deserves its own sticky!

Since I have kept a separate computer for music exclusively,

That's the key to performance enlightenment grasshopper (sorry 70's joke), however you don't need a separate computer if you multiboot OS's, and have one of them reserved for a DAW specific environment.

Cheers...

Do you have to disable it under System Devices or could you disable under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers? Did you notice a performance hit when it was enabled? I'm curious whether this is AMD-specific or has broader implications.

How I would do it if I accidentally didn't disable it in the BIOS on first boot:

After you kill it in Windows by uninstalling the driver for it, reboot immediately and
THEN ideally, also disable it in the BIOS.
It'll probably be under on-board PCI devices or something like that.

I also had much success disabling this, though on my laptop it's Intel(R) Display Audio.  I could disable it in both device manager and audio playback options.  I found it to be a better performance boost than disabling the Realtek drivers, which i never had a problem with - probably because I have a second monitor connected via HDMI.
I would regularly run sonar using the asio driver for my m-audio fast track ultra and my system set to default audio from the realtek driver so i could watch youtube and run sonar at the same time.  With Avid's update for the FTU to be a true multi-client asio driver, I've been able to disable the realtek and just run all applications through the FTU seamlessly.
