I regularly use my HD audio driver with anything windows through 2 different speaker sets (one of which is via HDMI) without any problems whatsoever.

Because I want to record from web browsers and other non-asio programs I have the wave device routed through my sound card, and I have the motherboard, and video card sound devices disabled.

And I have the windows sounds disabled.

I do not understand using a second output.  Please enlighten me.

Just provides different devices for checking mixes. I have no way to feed audio to my monitor (video) other than via HDMI. I also use the onboard audio to feed some computer speakers for Windows audio and checking mixes as well.

I should add:

I have a second set of outputs from the audio card connected to a home stereo preamp/amp that has two sets of smaller speakers connected. This way I can have the same levels sent to the sound device and adjust volume as needed for the other speakers.

And: another set of outputs from the audio device sends to a set of computer speakers that run through a subwoofer.

So: four sets of speakers all from the audio device.

But, I can see the use of the internal card if it does not interfere with all the other concerns.
