I have FX chains that I use and when I click on the individual FX I want to see in the FX chain, it only lets you see 1 effect at a time and it always shows it in the upper left screen.

This didn't happen in X3, is there something I'm missing or is it something Cake has missed? I sure hope its me!!

Thanks,
CJ

You have "plug-in recycling" enabled in preferences so opening on GUI replaces another. To keep a GUI on screen, either change the preferences, double-click on the effect while holding ctrl to reverse temporarily whatever the preference is, or click the pin icon in a GUI's upper right to keep it "pinned" to the screen.

This feature seems to be causing a lot of confusion but it's very cool for minimizing clutter once you get into it.

Another option is to turn the feature off in preferences.
Press 'P' to open preferences.
Under "File" ->VST Settings untick "Recycle Plugin Windows"

turned that off right away ... like it cluttered ... and x-rayed ... spread across 2 screens ...

still cool option, though ... would use it on a laptop ...

Most of the time you probably don't want to open multiple plugins. You can get best of both worlds by using the CTRL key when opening to pin the plugin. That way you only keep windows open that you really want.

I like having multiple plugins displayed on my screen. I have 2 23" widescreens and it my workflow is more productive when I have multiple plugins opened and being able to view all of them at one time. Its faster.

I didn't understand how the new 'pin' for plug-ins worked until I read this thread.  Thanks for the explanation.  Couple of questions / comments: I didn't think to look under File preference menu for VST options, I did however look under Customation -> Display which seems more intuitive to me.  Pressing the CTRL key when opening a plug-in window works great but where is this documented?  It seems that this new feature was introduced with the Braintree release, but in the Braintree PDF guide, I don't see any mention of how this works.  Is the documentation for holding the CTRL key located somewhere else.  Final question, why do some of the plugins have an extra window menu bar just under the title bar that contains Preset selection, saving options, along with S,R,W icons and a Pin icon located at the top right of this menu bar.  Other plug-ins do not open with this menu bar.  Do the plug-ins included only in Sonar contain this additional menu bar?

Thanks,
BL

This indicates a 32 bit plugin operating in 64 bit Sonar

You're right its not in the online help. It was mentioned here in a blog post. I'll request that it be added to the documentation.
