I went with the Pro Q on sight. It seems to have everything and the sound quality is good.

Congrats! If you can spend the money it's really an EQ you can't go wrong with! Enjoy :)

Maybe I'm missing something, but the ProChannel EQ is parametric: it has frequency, amount, and Q controls.

I think that is the quadcurve that people are referring to Konrad. It is certainly my choice.

No. Most are not referring to the QuadCurve EQ of the ProChannel. They are referring to products offered by Fabfilter (the Pro Q EQ and the Pro Q 2 EQ). But Craig Anderton does make considerable comments about the Pro Channel's Quadcurve EQ.

I didn't say most - I said that those that mention the quadcurve are talking about the Pro Channel EQ. Happy to stand by my assertion at this stage:)

If every stage in a parametric could have a different topology, that would be one thing but usually with a parametric, when you "sign up" to a topology, all the stages work that way.

Feature request : Make the curve for each band of the Quadcurve EQ switchable. (or infinitely variable, morphing from one to the next)

OK. A misunderstanding on my part.

Quadcurve is suitable for most EQ needs. In fact, if one were to take the Quadcurve, Sonitus EQ, freeware like meldaproductions Mequalizer an expensive third party EQ and do a common EQ function like cutting 3db or so around 200 hz, all but the most trained ears would be hard pressed to tell the difference.  I'm not saying there is no difference, but that we sometimes get so caught up in looking for "the best" that we forget that improved skill in using what we have trumps new toy every time.  Quadcurve is my go to mostly because "it's there".  Every track typically has the initial eq adjustment done with quadcurve unless some highly specialized function needs to be done. the exceptions to this are when i use plugins or fx chains that have EQ's included like when i use nectar 2 on vocals or px-64 on drums. The only EQ that i use with any regularity outsideof he ones that come with Sonar is not MAutodynamic, which offers much of the functionality of fabfilter at a fraction of the price.

I agree

I chose Pro-Q (and now Pro-Q 2), not because of the sound quality, but rather the interface itself. Both the controls and the meters/analyser.

It may be that there are better tools out there, but this is one I discovered after purchasing FabFilter Twin and watching the FabFilter videos. I just like the company and the guy that does their videos sounds like he knows what he is talking about...
